This video is going to be hilarious when we have full-blown food replicators in the future.
I wonder how well a candy store would do using this as their gimmick

Could easily make some serious bank by selling those interlocked candy shapes, from the sounds with the larger one being able to print basically two football sized objects you could easily print 50+ of them at once. Bag them up with say about 15-18 in a bag and sell it.
People love these novelty things.
Holy shit you can print chocolate. I need this now

Dippin Dots went bankrupt. While they were effing awesome, the novelty wasn't enough. Making them is fairly expensive compared to regular ice cream, needing liquid nitrogen, and that high price for a small cup of ice cream didn't work out that well
What a shame, too. Was my favorite
When we can print donuts, I'm getting one. I will print donuts so much, don't give a fuck if I get fat. Why? printed donuts.

But doughnuts are already basically die-cut rings of dough. A doughnut machine is a rudimentary food printer.

Also people being able to make custom candy orders (and being able to pick them up mere hours later) could make a huge amount of money.
"It ONLY takes 6 hours! It's super-fast!"
"It's around 5000 dollars"
Goddamn. I can see this in some over-expensive food-shops at best.

For now. It will get cheaper in a few years.

Honestly I think the fact that Dippin' Dots tasted like a crappy version of ice cream might have had something to do with it.
The texture was nice but I don't know anyone who actually preferred the taste of Dippin' Dots over normal ice cream, especially when stuff like Coldstone got really popular with mix ins and toppings, something that generally doesn't work with Dippin Dots which is just pure ice cream. Ice cream with cookie dough mixed in is much much better tasting and feeling than the cookie-dough flavored dippin dots and half the price. Dippin Dots isn't bad though for sherberts and fruit flavored ice creams though
I think this would be sweet, mostly for those artful candy designs that they showed off in the cases. Imaging having a chocolate "sculpture" like that, would be pretty rad. Or a custom ordered chocolate 3D printed object for an occasion. It would certainly have an upcharge to it, but it doesn't look expensive to produce these objects - just you need enough time to get it done and to buy the expensive machine to make it. With enough sales you'll pay off the investment.
First thing I thought of.
I thought it was going to print full meals like hamburgers and stuff but then I realised how dumb I would have to be to really think that and felt kinda bad
It's cute but I can't see any practical use of this.
Dude it prints fucking food It doesn't matter!
3D-printed chocolate dragon dildos. Calling it now.

Really hope those never come to be.

Carmel apple morning stars and maces.
It's cute but I can't see any practical use of this.
That's what people always say of new technology, give it a couple years and you'll see.
Are we saying 2D printer now ?

I sell them at my ice rink. I eat them all the time. They're amazing.
if you could have the 3d printer print at 0 c or below then you could print partway then pause the machine to place dippin dots in then resume print and seal the ice cream inside.
The guy he was interviewing looked really nervous when he at the chocolate one for some reason. Was one of the candies poison or some thing?

make some super insulating chocolate to cover the icecream warm outside cold inside for hours

Any person that is demoing their creation usually looks nervous when someone is testing their product, ESPECIALLY someone that is on camera.

If you could have some way of trapping enough air pockets in the chocolate then maybe, shrugs myself.
needs caramel and peanut butter extruder so I can make candy bars.

Apparently someone's made a 3D printer for pizza, too.
Also, concerning the device, I wonder if it'll be able to do gummi?

well some 3d printers work on a molecular level so its not too far fetched

Printing food on the molecular level would be an engineering nightmare.
