So FP, I am a regular stoner and on Monday, I got a chest operation to fix my "pectus
excavatum" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pectus_excavatum).
Now, on Saturday it's my friends birthday
and I'm planning on getting high.
And I'm just wondering if it's safe to smoke after the operation. On Saturday it would be a week after the operation.
Help me Doctor Facepunch!
Fast threads didn't help because they're being doody heads.
holy shit my friend has that the chest thing
and im sure you'll be fine but hey what do i know
Do your lungs still work?
i guess if your lungs are still intact then you'll probably be fine.
Yeah the doctors didn't do anything with the lungs so I guess I'm sweet.
they didnt remove your thc receptors now did they?
have fun!!
Could you tell me about the procedure and the pain and everything afterwards? I have the same thing, and I've been thinking about getting the surgery...

I got to the hospital on Saturday.
On Monday they did the procedure.
It takes around 3 hours. The pain is moderate. They gave me morphine and painkillers so it's not really that bad. And when you leave usually after a week or so they give you some painkillers to take home. Oh yeah, after the surgery you will have 3 drains inside you sucking the blood out so you don't get an infection. After the level of blood is below 100ml in the last bottle they let you go. Now 5 days after the surgery, you might have problems with breathing and you get some pain if you cough but it's not bad. I also get shoulder pains after. You end up with 3 small scars and one long one across your chest, just below your nipples, approximately 4 inches long.
I think it was worth it.

Just try and reduce coughing as much as possible. Take medium to small hits and inhale cool air after the hit to take it in deeper, that way it is cooler and smoother, and less likely to make you cough. Depending on what they did, you could rupture a suture or cauterized section if you strain to hard.

And you don't cough? How's that even physically possible?
Iron lungs perk.

Yes it was worth it. The improvement is immediate and over time it gets better until it looks just like a normal chest.

I could try and get pictures up for you tomorrow if I have time. I'll also try and get the before pictures if the hospital gives me them.
