Let me start off by saying yes, i have already posted this in the Call of Duty thread.
I like making Axe/ Tomahawk videos. They are my main weapons in game, and basically the only weapons i use. Nothing i do is set up, fake, or random. I like that it's a different way to play the game. I like feeling different, and respected/ hated for using weapons that are very hard to use in most situations. I like how creative you can be with a weapon that doesnt have to be exactly direct [like banking the axe off of walls into your opponent].
and lastly I'm well aware most of this forum has a negative disposition with both Call of Duty, and montage videos. So why am i posting it here? Well the CoD thread is mostly people who enjoy the game, and can respect what i do, and how i do it. but i feel like i suck at editing since i'm still a newbie to it, so garnering praise from the people who like the game doesnt help me improve in Sony Vegas much.
I'm advertising a bit, but mostly I want to know how i can improve the editing itself. every time i make a video I feel like I could do better, but I never get enough varying feedback to look for things to improve. I want really honest opinions on what people think so i know how to improve. So with that, here are the 3 Black Ops 2 videos i've done so far.
"Realize"

"DeliciAxe"

"Battle Axe Beats" [If nothing else, you have to like this song, its amazing]

And like i said, I already know CoD gets a less than warm welcoming here, but no one is going to stop me from making the videos, so you might as well tell me where I can improve. Thanks.
Bad-ass videos. I can't imagine consciously pulling off those bank shots during a game.
I like to run around with a knife, two combat axes, and and assault shield on my back. I call it my "Ninja Turtle" class
You had some pretty sweet kills on there man. Badass, keep it up.
are you some kind of psychic that can predict people's paths from around corners or was most of that just lucky shots
Damn impressive
those bounce kills are fucking insane
That was very impressive.
The only thing that I didn't like was the 360s in the first one.
Also it's a bit ridiculous that you die from getting hit in the foot by a slow tumbling axe :v:
Good cuts, Good music, flowed well.
Video: 9.5/10
Audio: 9/10
Game: 0.01/10
Nice stuff, but the first person throwing animation is just silly
This is why I love call of duty, it's just fucking silly what you do in it.
Let me axe you a question OP, how did you get so good at this?
Why do people find this interesting / impressive? Genuine question
are you some kind of psychic that can predict people's paths from around corners or was most of that just lucky shots
Unfortunately because i cut the clips down to fit with the music better, you can't always see where i first spot the enemy before i throw. Most of the time i saw them before they ran around the corner, or they are firing a loud gun and are on the radar. It's just about using your resources, and paying close attention to what's around you.
Anything about the editing itself? Myself I'm not a fan of the color choices i did in the 2nd video, and i feel like i shouldn't be using fast forward as much in my videos.
I liked the music in the first one
The music doesn't sync with the videos, colors are dull, quite a few of of those kills were just plain luck.
I really can't see the appeal.
Awesome
Let me axe you a question OP, how did you get so good at this?
Unfortunately I have a friend who also makes videos sometimes [BlindRob], and he named his last montage video "Let Me Axe You Something". Really Rob, come on. But to answer the question I am close to 7000 Axe kills in multiplayer, with the next closest kills with weapon at 3000 kills [ballistic knife]. Same went for Black Ops 1. I had 15000 Tomahawk Kills, with next highest kills with weapon being the Makarov at about 5000 kills or so. Just keep doing it, and you start to learn how they behave, and how to angle them just right off of walls and other surfaces. Then work on reflexes, and what to look for.
Nice stuff, but the first person throwing animation is just silly
I honestly agree with this. For some reason it took me awhile to realize that the animation was throwing the hatchet with his left hand. Afterwards it started to feel awkward using it as my main weapon when i'm left handed, but i just ignore it now. I wish it looked a little better but oh well.
The vignette in the second video is way overdone in my opinion.
How were you doing some of those rebound shots? Some were just throwing them into small corridors, but some of the shots where you threw it to a wall next to you to hit a guy in front of you. Did you practice those particular maps or were you just aiming to rebound the axe?
I couldn't help but laugh when people die from having an axe in their hand, knee, or ankle.
I'd like to see more reactions from people playing with you. I'm sure playing like this has got to generate both rage and enemies.

I get called a hacker very regularly. People can't seem to get that if you practice, and have good reflexes its pretty easy. At least for me. I have made a lot of friends with how i play though. I pretty much only play FFA, and i've had games where people were generally impressed with how well i do and will join me for a blades only ffa which is a lot of fun. But for the most part i get called a noob :v:

They are all on purpose. I never really practice a specific shot. My thought process is "yeah it'd be pretty cool to bank it off of that" i throw a few at it first to make sure it's possible, and if it is I just wait for the right opportunity to do so. A good example is the last shot on Yemen, on the 3rd video. I pulled that shot off by accident once, and decided to try it again when i knew there was an enemy there. Before i make that shot, the guy that gets hit killed me in that same area, and was headed to that doorway. So i went for it, and got the kill.
Granted there is luck involved, but that's because i can't read a person's mind. I know how to use the axes well, but if a player decided to randomly turn the other way, or stop moving I can't know that. Using guns is the same way, you can't control another players movement or behavior and in that regard most kills can be considered luck - gun or not.
Nice job, OP. It's a lot better than the other videos people have posted where they say "pls h8 lol i dun care fuk u".
If you don't mind me asking, what mouse do you use? You tear ass with that thing.
SORRY, i completely forgot to add song's to some of the video info things. First Song is "Realize" by Lemaitre [god i love them]. 2nd song is "Delicious" original mix by The Noisy Freaks & Soulero. 3rd song is "Grandavia" by Janski Beeats.

No, i'm not kidding. $3 mouse. And i use an old ass Zboard. Not exactly up to date. If i EVER get ahead on my bills and such i'll try to get a new mouse. I am also going to try playing a few games using a mouse pad and see if it makes any difference for me.
What do you have combat axes bound to?
Middle mouse. Left side [mouse 5, thumb] is melee, and right [6, pinky] is killstreak
Edit I also did Black Ops 1 video, though i find these weren't as good, because its harder to edit them, and the graphics quality has to be set to low since the game is very horribly optimised for the pc.
"Too Much for Tomahawk" [yes, this is a nod at Phooon] watch these both in HD or they look funky.

"How it Ends" This one mainly focuses on payback/ instant revenge kills, hence why there's me dying a lot in this one.

Call of Duty montage thread with overwhelmingly positive reception, hell has frozen over.
Call of Duty montage thread with overwhelmingly positive reception, hell has frozen over.
Largely because the guy who made it is self aware, isn't one of the "ye h8 as much as you want, I don't care hipsters", and actually recorded something impressive aka "something that either not everyone can do or it would take months to record something like that basing purely on luck". If these things are anything like throwing shit from mw2, mw3 or bo1 then I can tell it's not easy to kill with it.
