So my cat has grown this thing on his face
its really gross and I cant afford a vet. Anyone have an idea?

Yeah. Put Backtine or antibiotic cream on it, and if it doesn't get better in a few days, I'd say either find a way to get him to the vet or watch him die.

Holy shit, I think my cat had like the same thing. We took him to the vet, they gave us some cream, some meds and some shit like that and he got better.

In all seriousness, looks like it might just be itchy and rubbing up against something and causing it to scab. One of my cats does the same thing every spring.
If it's an outdoor cat, may have gotten into a fight and had a chunk taken off.
