Ever wonder what happened to Ted Williams, the homeless man with the “Golden Voice,” after he was plucked out of obscurity and thrust into the viral limelight?
It’s been just over a year since Williams became a star, after a YouTube video featuring the then-homeless Columbus, Ohio man presented his pitch-perfect, classic radio voice to the world. Entertainment Tonight caught up with the Williams to see how the past year has dramatically changed the former panhandler’s life.
In the video, Williams shows off his spacious home that he shares with his girlfriend and sober living coach, saying he’s still in disbelief: “A year ago today I was living in tents, under bridges, smoking crack, doing all the wild things—now this is where I live. I have a fireplace.” He also has a walk-in closet that doubles as a recording booth, where he records his spots for his job as the official voice of the New England Cable News.
The past year has been a busy one; in addition to going to rehab twice, Williams has been working with Entertainment Tonight (whose producers also helped him with achieving sobriety), landed a voice over spot in a Kraft Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese commercial last year, and is set to release a book chronicling his story this May.
“What a difference a year makes,” he said. “It’s a ‘hallelujah’ moment every day I wake up.”

Funny I was just remembered of him a few weeks ago and wanted to look him up. Nice to see he got a second chance at life
I'm happy for him.
Truly great.

I... don't think that's such a good idea.
He reminds me of Grandpa from the boondocks.
now this is where I live. I have a fireplace.
Why does he specify the fireplace? That amuses me so much for some reason.

Because not everyone has a fireplace. And to go from under a random bridge to a home with a cozy fire is a huge step up for him.
Almost brought a tear to my eye :'(
I love hearing about stories like this. Shows how humanity can actually be good sometimes.

He lived outside in the cold where warmth was incredibly hard to come by, especially at this time of year. Living as a homeless man must really change a person's perspective on things.
Good to hear that he's doing well.
Yet again, I wish the best to him.
I really hope that he starts some sort of homeless program because of what he ascended from.

Maybe he is just overwhelmed by the fact he has a lot of stuff that he thought he would never have.
Its nice to see someone completely turn their life around and make something of themselves.
I'm glad he fixed his life, because I remember him relapsing a few times and felt really bad that he wasted his chance

I have one and we never use it because it sets off the smoke alarms.
Either way, good to see this guy has managed to turn his life around with the help of some caring people and an opportunity for employment.
I... don't think that's such a good idea.
why
To know that he went from literally rags to riches chokes me up. This man deserves everything he has.
why
Because he has committed himself to staying sober.
You don't tease an alcoholic with a six-pack, do you?

Maybe you should clear/open your chimney :v:
I bet the original video uploaders feel pretty badass.
I'm really happy for him.
Holy shit
I saw that Kraft commercial, I never realized it was his voice
Didnt he abuse his girlfriend.
Didnt he abuse his girlfriend.
While he was still getting over his addictions, yes.
So he is rich now.
Apparently calling someone rich is wrong okay
Shame that so many homeless people aren't so lucky.
A true rags to riches story. I just hope it doesn't all go to his head. He seems like a good enough person.

Holy Jeebus, you're daft.
