Source
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Hundreds and hundreds of mixed, interracial families are rallying behind Old Navy after the retailer posted an ad that set off a barrage of negative comments. Here is the ad: [t]https://i.gyazo.com/b0b182c6ef18f44481ff68c558602175.png[/t] Despite the negative reactions, Old Navy did not take down the ad, which spurred an even bigger reaction. Hundreds of mixed families began posting pictures of themselves, applauding the San Francisco-based retailer. And so the hashtag #LoveWins was born. The photo of Old Navy’s mixed family has been retweeted thousands of times since Friday alongside 100s of pictures of loving, smiling interracial families. Even GOP Senator John McCain’s son Jack posted a photo of himself and his wife Renee Swift McCain, who is black. Underneath, the Navy helicopter pilot wrote the message: “To the people upset about the #OldNavy “Scandal” of a picture of a mixed race marriage, eat it.” His message has been retweeted and ‘loved’ thousands of times. I can't believe shit like this is an issue.
literally why does anyone care that they're interracial
Trump voters.
Are people actually being unironic about this? Jesus christ this country is a joke
I can't believe shit like this is an issue.
It's because some people has their heads up their asses and gets offended by every single thing.
I wish more places had ads like this. It's more of the norm than people think, yet the media seems to fall flat on representing it as such. It's annoying getting odd and sometimes dirty looks from old white people when I'm out with my girlfriend as if we're some sort of anomaly.
I know we like to mock "it's [current year], people!" but serious, it's 2016 and this shit should be in the past, isolated to the fringe loonies of society.
God damn. I thought hating on same sex couples was the hip thing, not interracial. More things change more thing stay the same I suppose
I know we like to mock "it's [current year], people!" but serious, it's 2016 and this shit should be in the past, isolated to the fringe loonies of society.
Race relations have been growing increasingly ugly in the past five years or so, as far as I can tell. Opinions are becoming increasingly polarized in the wake of media blowouts about Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner, etc. Injustice and racism have always existed, but that ugly old hatred is bubbling to the surface again. It's probably not fair to say out and out racism is mainstream, but people are not as shy about hiding their prejudices anymore IMO.
It's because some people has their heads up their asses and gets offended by every single thing.
Stop PC culture! I shouldn't be chastised for my bigoted opinions and ignorance
Race relations have been growing increasingly ugly in the past five years or so, as far as I can tell.
13% of Americans disagree with white and black marriage, according to gallup polls
This is surprisingly large, yet at the same time probably what I should have expected. [editline]4th May 2016[/editline] How many of them are, like, 90?
Huh, must be a slow news day.
I suspect it's the echochamber on both sides of the fence.
Essentially, yeah, and that is thanks in no small part to intentionally inflammatory and sensationalist media coverage, and not just in regards to race relations. Opinions and prejudices in general seem to be getting deeper. Calling the people pissed off about this "Trump supporters" was a bit tongue in cheek, but this election has been a pretty strong barometer of just how divided the country has become. Trump and Sanders are both candidates that would have had basically no chance eight years ago. Theyre just too damn polarizing. Both represent extremes (by American standards) of idealogy and personality. They'd have been laughed off the stage. Now, though, one has all but claimed the nomination for presidency, and the other put up a hell of a fight. As a country, we seem to be trending towards more extreme ends of the spectrum, rather than more moderate positions.
All I have to say about this is that the mother model in this picture looks like she has no idea what she's doing. The father and the son look like they are having fun and the mother looks like a deer caught in headlights. It's called an action shot, mom, learn how to pose.

The article didn't research things very well, #lovewins wasn't born out of this, it predates it by so long that it was used during the legalization of same-sex marriage in the USA.

The other day I saw a sign that said "#NoJustice" with no other text on it. When I searched it up, there were too many generic tags under #NoJustice that the poster ultimately had no meaning.
Every time any of my local news agencies post anything, people go fucking crazy, regardless of what it is. Seriously, people will make anything and everything political regardless if it is or not.

This is such a non-issue it's laughable; some people are just so close minded you can't even reason with them. Then again, the popularity of internet does allow for more idiots to spread their ideals.
Trump is a moderate though. Cruz was much more radical than him.
In certain aspects, certainly not in others. He's DEFINITELY an extreme in personality, and there's nothing "moderate" about banning Muslim travel, multi billion dollar border walls, his diplomatic perspectives and foreign policy stances, or his plan to completely remove the Affordable Care Act.
the outrage against this is like 20 people who are obvious /pol/ users, the vast majority of people posting about this are in support.
What century is it???
This is strange to me because we've been having white woman/black man interracial couples in all sorts of ads for the past couple years, but now they're doing white man/black woman everyone's freaking out?
Let's be honest here: Old Navy did this because it knew that it would create a controversy. It's still an important issue, don't get me wrong, the prejudice against interracial couples is horrifying, but you know as well as I do that Old Navy has the kind of people who think of this thing in their advertising division.

Some people have become so sensitive to perceived "political correctness" that they've become an exact mirror of it.
