Old School Runescape is something I'd like to get into again sometime in the future, but I'm afraid that I'd either get really addicted again, or the nostalgia goggles would come off and I'd be disappointed.

great now i can win runescape
I was really sad when I tried logging into old school Runescape and realized that my account transferred over completely to the new version of the game and I couldn't continue using the old version.
just start training everything again it doesn't take as long as child-you remembers it taking
pretty much this. even though the level scaling doubles every 7 levels, once you get in the groove you can go from 1-60 in almost any skill in fairly short order. i'm already at combat level 75 with dragon gear and 52 mage/45 ranged. as a kid i'd waste so much time on tiny things so my grinding sessions were pretty sparse; i think it took like a year to a year and a half to get to the progress i made so far on my character skill-wise?
great now i can win runescape
you cannot win run escape
just start training everything again it doesn't take as long as child-you remembers it taking
But then I don't have my random ass holiday event items anymore. What's the point if I can't stand in Lumbridge doing the chicken dance? Or flail around my yo-yo? But seriously, I wish I could access my old account but I can't for the life of me remember the password or even what email was attached to it.
I came back to OSRS last week after taking a break for a few months and I'm glad I returned. I've yet to find a game that does quests quite like Runescape. One day you're helping an old lady find her missing cat, then the next you're claiming the Holy Grail for King Arthur's court, and then another day you're deciding who you want to make top dog of the dwarven factions of Keldagrim. The late-game does involve a lot of grinding but if you're smart about it you can make a lot of gp while doing it. I've spent my week mainly mining and smithing to get to 75 smithing and ended up making over 4 million gp in the process. I wasn't even being a 100% optimal tryhard about it. I just wanted to be able to make adamant arrows from scratch. Personally, I think World of Warcraft could learn a thing or two from what Jagex is doing with Runescape. There is a good number of players that don't like the direction WoW has taken lately and would rather play the game how it was during WotLK or before. The success of classic WoW private servers such as Nostalrius (which Blizzard is shutting down in a couple days; RIP my Troll Priest) shows that there is demand for just that.
you get all holiday items from the previous holidays for every event you do so if you do the christmas event, you get all of the christmas event items from the current and all previous holiday events also you don't need your old account if you just wanna play OSRS because the characters are seperate, you'd be starting over regardless
Honestly I don't even want to play Runescape, I just sorta want to revisit my account for nostalgia's sake.
Old school? Pfft, get back when you've played the 2D sprite Paleolithic-school Runescape.
