U.S. Customs and Border Patrol reported that the number of illegal border crossings dropped from 31,578 to 18,762 persons. Kelly said border agents usually see a 10 to 20 percent increase in illegal immigrant apprehensions from January to February.“The drop in apprehensions shows a marked change in trends,” Kelly said. “Since the administration’s implementation of executive orders to enforce immigration laws, apprehensions and inadmissible activity is trending toward the lowest monthly total in at least the last five years.” The new numbers are welcoming news for Trump who campaigned on illegal immigration crackdown. Trump signed an executive order increasing border security and authorizing the construction of his promised border wall along the southern border in the first few days of his presidency. Trump also seeks to hire about 5,000 additional border patrol officials and 10,000 ICE agents and seeks to fast-track deportations. “We will remain vigilant to respond to any changes in these trends, as numbers of illegal crossings typically increase between March and May,” Kelly said. “However, the early results show that enforcement matters, deterrence matters, and that comprehensive immigration enforcement can make an impact.”
Hey, I wouldn't want to flee to a country ruled by a manchild either.
Excellent. This is very good news to hear.
Ruin the country so everybody leaves and nobody wants to come to the US, either legally or illegally. 5th-dimensional chess, everybody.
So here's the thing.
Customs and Border Protection reported that 18,762 undocumented immigrants were apprehended at the southern border last month, compared to 31,578 in January. The number of unauthorized border crossings, Kelly said, were down 40 percent in February.
http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/323098-dhs-secretary-touts-dip-in-illegal-border-crossings Illegal border crossings didn't decrease by 40%. The number of people caught dropped by 40%. Immigration probably went down, but I think that's an important distinction to make. Checkmate Democrat supporters, heres evidence of Trump's plans and actions working on reducing illegal immigration.
Yeah, checkmate guys. Let's make our country look unappealing to everyone on the outside world, we're going to get less people who immigrate. This is totally a bi-product of good executive decisions. Doesn't have anything to do with America looking like a shithole atm. Yeah, checkmate guys. :hammered:
Checkmate Democrat supporters, heres evidence of Trump's plans and actions working on reducing illegal immigration.
little did we know, trump IS the wall
Any chance this is due to increased MSM coverage of stories around deportation? If people see more stories about families being separated and long term illegals being deported, I'd imagine that some would be less inclined to try the crossing. Obviously it could be that it was just a bad month for tracking border crossings.
Lol. You guys seriously think illegal immigrants said "oh man America looks so bad now that Trump is president, I better stay in Mexico"? Sounds like you guys just can't appreciate a victory for Trump.
Lol. You guys seriously think illegal immigrants said "oh man America looks so bad now that Trump is president, I better stay in Mexico"? It's not like he spent his entire campaign talking about how tighter border controls were needed (THE WALL).

People here are talking about how illegal immigrants think America is so shitty and terrible now that Trump is president. Read the full thread, please.

Now America doesn't look too much better, so theres no point in putting any effort into doing so. Hell, My plan was to try and get citizenship but if this stuff keeps going, fuck that it's better to stay put

And lol, you're in the UK and was considering immigrating, and you're trying to relate your situation to an illegal immigrant coming from Mexico. Check that fuckin privilege. :privilege:
Hey, I wouldn't want to flee to a country ruled by a manchild either.
i mean... if they're going to change their minds about fleeing to the US based on the current leader just being an unprofessional dolt then maybe they don't have the best reasons to flee in the first place?
America doesn't look too much better because they know we're cracking down on immigration, not because America is such a shitshow that's run by a manchild or whatever insults you people want to come up with.
what's so bad about immigration?

I'll err on the side of caution and say that people aren't 100% serious in their conviction that "America is a shit-hole because Trump". They are blanket statements that I'm so-so in agreement or disagreement with. I won't engage with a post unless I feel I can say something worth mentioning. Don't be condescending, I'm replying to you not them.
Oh my good what a victory. Colossal accomplishment. I wonder how much the returns on investment will be for American people. Surely their quality of life will increase tenfold with this victory considering all the things they were willing to sacrifice just to [del]drink liberal tears[/del] get stronger borders.
Job security, less crime, more taxes...yeah this is a great accomplishment.
what's so bad about immigration?
Absolutely nothing as long as it's done legally: which these illegal immigrants obviously aren't doing, because, ya know, they're illegal immigrants.
i mean... if they're going to change their minds about fleeing to the US based on the current leader just being an unprofessional dolt then maybe they don't have the best reasons to flee in the first place?
This is sophistry. I don't have to remind you of the fact that Mexico has a terrible problem with the cartels, to the point where 99% of most crimes go uninvestigated never mind unsolved. There are literally folks using guns to defend themselves against the cartels because nobody else would defend them. Look up the justicieros anonimos for examples of this. Then there was the fact a man killed himself rather than be thrown out of the USA because he comes from the stronghold of the Sinaloa cartel and would rather die than go back to Mexico. This after being deported for the third time. Telling a man would rather die than go back wouldn't you think? And since the whole atmosphere of America is now all about being hostile to immigrants, with Indians and Sikhs being literally shot now, d'you think they're going to risk coming in there rather than flee to another country if possible? Some might come to America because they have no other choice and might find it preferable to living under the thumb of the cartels and a powerless government.
you said "immigration" not "illegal immigration" so what sort of restrictions would you like to see dropped for "legal" immigrants then?
Oh no, I didn't specify "illegal" in a thread that is completely focused on illegal immigrants. So now you're attacking some non-existent point I was apparently trying to make.
Why the hell would we?
You tell me? I'm not the one calling him a manchild. Trump is embarrassing America, no doubt.

You're trying to make it look like Indians and Sikhs are suffering an epidemic of getting gunned down in the streets, and you're saying I'm guilty of sophistry.

If his statement about blaming the Democrats when Trumpcare goes tits up is anything to go by he thinks being President of America is some huge joke, and a big laugh, for the conservative party and for himself. Now tell me why do we have to spare our criticisms of this buffoon then?

As an outsider, I can safely tell you, you are now full-blown joke to pretty much anyone. And no one really gains from this "victory". Your healthcare is still shit. Your education is shit. Your country seemingly can't decide if it wants to be progressive or regressive.

So quick to jump on the idea of a "Win" by T-Team that you'll come into the thread swinging in proud. Like it or not, as proud as you are about trump, I doubt you care about the fact that people like him and his party are causing a bigger and bigger political gap and fucking destroying the country due to not being able to team up with other people. I don't give a shit what anyone says about Trump. At the end of this day this cunts in-ability to cooperate with policies that could actually make things better is bad luck, and no one should support him because of this. That and, illegal immigration can happen through other means than the border.
If you kick black people out youd have less crime. How does this equal job security? More taxes sure do sound fun tho
Yes, but being black isn't a crime, and it doesn't make you an immigrant. Illegally immigrating is a crime, and it makes you an immigrant. Job security is attained through less competition through workers willing to work for lower and lower wages, aka illegal immigrants from Mexico who will work for whatever an employer is willing to give. Why would I pay people $X an hour for a laborious job when I could just get an illegal immigrant to do it for less?
