Multiple sources close to Ted Cruz say the Texas senator is expected indicate his support for Donald Trump as soon as Friday.
It is unclear whether Cruz will say only that he is voting for the Republican nominee, as other lawmakers have done, or offer a more full-throated endorsement, but the idea of throwing any support to Trump is controversial within Cruzworld.
“If he announces he endorses, it destroys his political brand,” said someone who had worked for Cruz's campaign.
Update: He gone and done it

There goes the only possible argument he had for 2020.
RIP Cruz, you're up there with Santorum and Huckabee in one off Christian conservative heaven.
How much weight would Cruz's word carry? What if this is another attempt to troll Trump like he did at the Convention?
This all an elaborate scheme to get his Delegates back.

I'm on board with this trainwreck of a theme park idea.

seems like he's starting his plan a bit too soon
He did it, the absolute madman
After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.
He was hated for not supporting Trump, now the anti-Trumps will hate him. He won't have any friends in the Senate.
He's forced to do it since the RNC Chair threatened to forbid any funding to the campaigns of any 2016 candidates who try to run in 2020 if they don't endorse Donald Trump.

Why would he want to lose twice? Surely he doesn't actually think he has a chance to become president, right? If you get beaten by Donald Trump.. That's pretty much it for you.

Donald Trump is a lying, insane scumbag. BUT HE'S GOT MY VOTE 👍

lmao holy shit. :v:
What about any aspect of this election can be construed as democracy, anymore? Other than the fact that you get to go into a booth and choose between two candidates with record low approval ratings, candidates chosen by private entities in potentially less than transparent ways.
Serial killers have officially supported Trump, how is this happening?
Well, well, well, look who comes crawling back...

Uh
The RNC in no way chose Trump. They were absolutely panicking trying to stop them. Now they're just resigned to trying to stop Clinton.

But that doesn't make sense. A Trump presidency will ensure that no Republican ever gets elected again for decades. If Hillary wins, she might do a bad enough job that some people will vote Republican next time.

It doesn't have to make sense. They hate Hillary and shut that door when they tried accusing her of literally everything they could, from Benghazi to racism. By effectively demonizing Hillary as hard as they did they basically forced themselves to support Trump or completely fracture their party.
Their hope is now to support Trump and try to stop too much damage, and hope that in 2020 the Democrats won't have anyone strong enough to beat whoever they can drag out (or the incubent Trump)

So you mean business as usual for Ted Cruz?
Reminder Ted Cruz was described by the former Republican Speaker of the House as 'Lucifer in the flesh,' and the most 'miserable son of a bitch' that the Spreaker had ever worked with.
And then you have the matter of Lindsey Graham literally making jokes about murdering Ted Cruz on the Senate floor.
Good to see that you have no arguments to back that up other than your own hatred towards Trump
Good to see that you still don't have the balls to answer my arguments in the other thread with proof.
You know the one I'm talking about. The one you left with your tail between your legs when I asked you to back your statements up with evidence.
You mean the one you got upset over nothing and got banned? Believe it or not, I was actually in the middle of posting but you got banned before I could finish it, so I figured it wasn't worth my while.
But let's not derail the thread. I'd very much like to see solid arguments to why "A Trump presidency will ensure that no Republican ever gets elected again for decades".
Gentlemen, just to clear up the confusion before we move on with the subject at hand, Cructo here asserted that Trump was in no way bigoted, racist, or misogynistic. I responded by posting several links containing a total of over a hundred direct quotes from Donald Trump that proved him wrong. Rather than slinking away as he should've, he insisted that the quotes were taken out of context and that the liberal media had put a spin on them to make Trump look bad. I gave him a specific example and asked him to tell me how that one had been spun out of context. He pussied out, because he knew I was right, and now he's making excuses.
Let me answer your question now, Cructo.
A Trump presidency will ensure that no Republican gets elected for decades because his policies, especially regarding the national debt, foreign wars and the economy, not to mention energy usage and environmental policies, are going to drive the country into the ground. But don't take my word for it. Your move.
Here's my prediction, fellas. He's either going to say the sources are flawed again, or he's going to run away yet again.
He just endorsed a man who said his father killed JFK and his wife was ugly
Why couldn't we have had Jeb? I like Jeb. Then again, I'm someone who thinks boringness in politics is a virtue.

I think Kasich would've been the best republican choice, and he'd probably win in a landslide against Hillary. It looked like he got teary eyed during his drop out speech :(

He was the only Republican ahead of Clinton in hypothetical general election polls and lead by 11 points at one point.

IIRC the tightest race in GE polls was Sanders and Kasich. How we ended up with Clinton and Trump is simultaneously confusing and frustrating.

The saddest part about this is despite some obvious attempts at voter manipulation that likely affected things to some margin, people still voted for this. They chose Trump over Kasich, and Hillary over Bernie.
I personally think Kasich should've went to the RNC to make the case that he is in fact the better nominee.
Should've said something like "I'm sure a good majority of you like donald trump, and I understand that. I agree with some of his policies, and some I don't, but there's just so much dirt and controversy surrounding him that it's going to be a buffet for Hillary during debates. I on the other hand, have the experience of governing, balancing budgets, creating jobs, etc, that Trump doesn't. And I win time after time in polls against Hillary. Now is the time to put aside your personal interest in Trump, and think long and hard about what would happen if he loses - which is likely" then go on to explain why hillary is bad etc etc. He probably could've changed some minds with a good speech. Or not, idk - but he should've tried.

Kasich is still a wolf in sheep clothing, he banned third parties from running for state elections and busted unions.
Jeb may be a little better but god damn it's a sad state of affairs when people miss them and wish they had gotten the nomination. I'd take them over Trump in a heartbeat but it's incredible how seeming human can make you look so much better in the eyes of the public.
lol reporters sure seem to be having fun writing about this

That is hilarious but I expect better from the Washington Post.
I still, for some reason, expect this to be a troll somehow. That Cruz might be doing this for some leverage that he can use against Trump. But that's a conspiracy theory and kinda crazy.

I'd prefer Jeb and Kasich over Trump for sure, as someone who really doesn't find anything appealing at all about the GOP. For people like Rubio and Cruz and Trump it's honestly a hard toss up because I feel like the first two would be better at governing but it's a double edged sword because that means they would be more capable to institute the horrible social conservatism shit the Republicans love.

It's a glimpse into the whole charade of presidential elections. We are used to seeing party rivals come together and mend fences after dusting each other up for months in a competition to win their parties bid but we rarely see a bitter feud as the one that existed between Cruz and Trump come to an abrupt end months after Trump had secured the ticket. I really don't think it's a coincidence that the RNC chair threatened retribution against Republicans speaking out against Trump earlier this week and now suddenly Cruz capitulates. Makes me wonder if the GOP is turning towards a more centralized structure ala the Democrats as their party got absolutely demolished by Trump's populist rise.

I'd love to read one of these.
