As each time zone ticks over into July 29th, a new wave of Windows updates is being released and experts are now concerned that Microsoft is going to put a serious strain on content delivery networks (CDN) worldwide. Streaming Media is citing internal sources and is saying that Microsoft has reserved up to 40 Tbps with all of the key CDNs which is a massive amount of bandwidth. As of July 28th at 1PM ET, Microsoft is said to already be consuming over 10 Tbps and seeing that all regions are not yet online for deployment, it's only going to go higher.
Holy shit that's a lot of data. Wonder just how many computers are going to be converting tomorrow
Christ. Yeah, that's definitely going to blow up a server or two...
I honestly hope there will be ways to upgrade outside of updating. Windows Update is bricked on my PC for whatever reason so it bums me out that I might not be able to upgrade. Unless of course there will be alternate methods, haven't really kept tabs with how they plan to roll out Windows 10.
Download ISO and install from USB
Does this actually work with a 7 / 8 licence? I heard you could only upgrade on top of 7 / 8 rather than doing a clean install.

It didn't ask for a key as long as I ran setup through windows.
Don't do this, you will end up with an unlicensed copy of Windows installed.
No. You need to upgrade to windows 10 from a windows 7 or 8/8.1 version first. Windows 10 ties itself to your hardware. Upgrade and install first, then if you want a clean install, create the win10 iso and do a clean install.

I was having similar troubles with my machine a few days ago, including my machine not registering the old hard disk and forgetting about Windows Explorer, that were fixed after I had the battery replaced and got the data drives to boot in the right order. After that my Windows Updates started working properly again too.
After that my Windows Updates started working properly again too.
That's probably because your clock was wrong until after you replaced the battery. Windows update won't work if your clock is off by too much. Yes it sounds ridiculous, but it's true.
Ah yes, we did reset the system clock after fixing the machine. I imagine that helped too.

It will perform the upgrade that way as well.

If your system clock is very far off websites will also fail to load and certain programs won't connect due to this.
Don't do this, you will end up with an unlicensed copy of Windows installed.
Uhhhh? No. I done this as mine is Activated.

Do anyone know what error 80240054 means when trying to install W10?
Has everyone received their upgrade yet? I haven't heard a word from the running GWX app yet. Nor Windows Update...
