The article doesn't mention he was attending the High school's special ed class for the most impaired, I.e crippled and downs syndrome. This could end up being a touchy case no doubt due to his disabilities
i just sat and looked at the title
I'm probably gonna sound like a twat, but the wording of the title seems awfully calm for such an incident.
Just because he's from your school doesn't make it sensational. However, if a facepuncher did something like that...

cashing in on the exploits of JWJ
Title is offensive, can't you say disabled or something (I am a TA with special ed kids, they are really friendly, It would hurt to call them retards so the title can easily offend me)
"Dim-witted dee dee dee kiddie diddler giddily fiddles a little wiggler."
Title is offensive, can't you say disabled or something (I am a TA with special ed kids, so it can easily offend me)
If you touch kids inappropriately you're a retard, title seems fitting to me.
Best title of the year.

This is Sensationalist Headlines. If there's a way to make a title misleading or offensive sounding it will be done.

[editline]e[/editline]

Post of the Year.
foxconn?
The offense part of the word "retard" in the title isn't over the offensive nature of the word, but the fact that the perpetrator was in fact mentally handicapped.
You fucking retards.

he's retarded, what's the big fuckin deal
he's retarded, what's the big fuckin deal
The title implies that he's a fucking retard, not that he actually is a fucking retard.
he's retarded, what's the big fuckin deal
People don't like the word for some reason.
I thought that said Kiddle at first :v:
For a second there I readed the title as Diddly... You know... Ned Flanders?
For a second there I readed the title as Diddly... You know... Ned Flanders?
That would still work "Local Retard From My School Diddlys A Kiddie"

"pls dont say that it offends me, only i can say it because i know retards!"
I love how words have become so disfigured by slurs that people forget some times they actually have a meaning.
"He's a retarded man."
"Hey you you can't say that it's incredibly offensive! "
"No, I mean he's literally retarded, he got a diagnosis and everything."
People don't like the word for some reason.
People don't like it because its a slur against people with mental and/or physical disabilities.

retarded isn't a medical term.
People don't like it because its a slur against people with mental disabilities.
And because it's insulting to liken the disabled to, for example, the denizens of modern /co/. The mentally retarded cannot help it. The same cannot be said of shithawks.

Mental retardation is a medical term, albeit I'd bet you wouldn't find many health care professionals use it, especially directly to someone with a mental disability, because of the connotations of it.
Retarded and retard are slurs, not medical terms.
Medically, calling someone retarded is perfectly acceptable. If you call them a retard, then you're in deep shit.
Doesn't retarded just mean slow?
