A seven-year-old boy collapsed and died while playing with a football at a school in Cheshire. Ciaran Geddes was playing on his own at Locking Stumps Community Primary School, in Birchwood, Warrington when he collapsed at 18:15 BST on Tuesday He was taken to Warrington District General Hospital but died. Cheshire Police said a post mortem is due to take place to establish the cause of his death but there are no suspicious circumstances at this stage. A member of the public found the boy and informed police. In a statement, his family said: "Ciaran was our young, rising star, he shined brightly in our lives. "He was taken from us too soon but will never be far from our thoughts and dreams. His football was everything to him, and his beloved Chester FC. "His smile was infectious and it is how we will remember him." The school's head teacher, John Littler, said: "The whole school community is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Ciaran and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time." There's been a few of these sport related deaths recently. Someone died while playing baseball some time ago. Strange...
I'm gonna say 'hereditary heart condition'.
hmm lets see here, people want to ban violent video games because there is a minuscule CHANCE that they cause people to kill other people. and yet we have CONFIRMED cases of school sports killing children and parents WANT their kids to play said sports.
When a student at a school dies it really changes things for all the students who knew them. Hopefully nobody will be traumatized. If football was actually the cause of death then we should clearly ban it forever considering how much flak video games take for harming the childrens.
Anyone else vote for banning sports activities in schools? [sp]I'm joking.[/sp] But yeah - Hope the family and friends - and anyone that knew him are coping okay... must be something hereditary or some underlying health condition.
I was there, I live in Locking Stumps. It was horrific, all I saw was the ambulance but i witnessed his mum running to the ambulance and then them trying to give him shocks with the defibrillator.etc. It was absolutely horrible. Worst thing i've ever witnessed in my entire life. My friend is his cousin. [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] To clarify this wasn't IN school, it was after school on the hardcourt ( playing football ). [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] the hardcourt is part of the school but it's open 24/7
Aw man. :( Best of luck to the family and friends.
It's strange to see this influx of stories about young children dying from the littlest things recently. Like that girl that died shortly after a fight with another girl her age.
there was a boy in my school died last year during rugby. shame with all these sporting incidents recently
Ban football
Sports are dumb anyway
Sports are dumb anyway
'my opinion is more valuable than everyone else's' yes, these events are bad, and i have my deepest condolences for the families of these victims, but like all news articles this is simply a minority case which is very rare

Only movies, so I've never, and will never. Understand why there's no hate on movies. They hate for us the things only "we" do, not what theyself do
Sports are dumb anyway
Translation: "I'm a fatty" or "I'm super skinny and no one picks me because I'm asocial and suck at doing anything"
Sports are dumb anyway
You're dumb. Sports are fun.

People who played violent games killed other people -> assuming that all people who play violent games will kill other people People who played sports died because of a health condition -> assuming that all people who play sports are going to die because of doing it
Fuck. Football can be a dangerous game if you decide not to give up when you're tired(Didier Droga anyone?). Sometimes it stings in the waist.
A 7 year old for Christ's saike, it hurts
BAN SPORTS hell, ban going outside.
Damn..right in the childhood!
Translation: "I'm a fatty" or "I'm super skinny and no one picks me because I'm asocial and suck at doing anything"
I'm not fat or extremely skinny, I'm not asocial and I've participated in team-based sports before. I've generally found that they're a waste of time and really dangerous a lot of the time. People could be doing much more productive things than running around on a field all day doing stupid activities that amount to nothing. It's just generally something that shouldn't exist, partly because it kills people (like here). I don't mean all sports are dumb but anything that has to do with playing in a team and moving a ball/puck/whatever around is something that should be a leisure activity instead because way too much money is spent on it. Money that could go to art, music, education and stuff like that.
Why the fuck would you put it in Art and Music? GAAAAAAAAAAY
Why the fuck would you put it in Art and Music? GAAAAAAAAAAY
Creativity is not gay. Please use your brain once in a while and respect people's preferences.
Why the fuck would you put it in Art and Music? GAAAAAAAAAAY
oh god please dont kick off a debate as to why only science is necessary in society and everything else is useless sports, art, music are all fun for those who find it fun. lets end it there
i'm gonna say steroids

He should have played soccer instead, its way more safe
