SNIP!
The mad bronies in the comments are funny
would be fucking hilarious if hasbro won
The only real question here is why now?
Because now they're taking a step towards using it for commercial gains, which they're not allowed to do.
Well at least they have only had 2 years of work go down the drain that's not so bad!!
Soo, another thread for everybody to laugh at bronies, have a shitstorm, and for a post by daijitsu? [editline]10th February 2013[/editline] because hey it's BRONIES, so whatever bad thing happens to them is good! edit: "trolling 30 year old neckbeards" just that alone is enough to make me think that the thread was made with the intent of hating broniesxdxdxdxd honestly does it matter what the game is about? considering how people whine about ea/activision sending c&d to fan groups, this getting winners is not cool
Er, they didn't sue them. They issued a Cease and Desist to them and they complied. It was to be completely expected. I am not sure why it actually did not happen sooner.
Honestly its a shame when creativity and fandom is forced down by the money makers. This game have been hyped for a while now, and it had been given good praise by the community. It was showcased at many conventions, and just now it turns out all that hard work was for nothing.
That's a shame, if true. Even if you don't like MLP, you can tell a lot of love went into that game.

It's still a shit move, regardless of what you may think.
Bronies or not, I always hate it when fan games get cease and desists
Bronies or not, I always hate it when fan games get cease and desists
Indeed. I remember there was a Halo RTS being made, though then it got canceled because 'Oh hey, we are making a RTS'.
Er, they didn't sue them. They issued a Cease and Desist to them and they complied.
This. The original post is grossly inaccurate.
rant
I know you're trying to defend your fandom or whatever, but jesus christ cool off your jets.
Wait guys, http://boards.4chan.org/mlp/res/8131410 They are working on a new version for Linux and its based on GNU/Linux free software! god bless you richard stallman [editline]10th February 2013[/editline]
This. The original post is grossly inaccurate.
sensationalism :)
I don't know why you're all supporting the game, they are using someone else's IP, they can tell them to stop whenever they want. The creators will just end up recolouring the ponies. You'll still be able to play your little game.
The game is made for no profit. What's the problem?
move along hasbro. remove the whole fandom and you will get my respect
I can't say I approve of this game, but it's always depressing with a non-profit project gets shut down by C&D letters. Did they ever receive official permission from Hasbro to make the game, before?
Because now they're taking a step towards using it for commercial gains, which they're not allowed to do.
Their website says the game is non-profit. Would that competition have money prizes? I don't really think that would cause it, since the game itself would not be used for financial gain by the developers.
We have attempted negotiating with Hasbro for the continued use of the property in our non-profit, voluntary project, but so far we haven't received an answer. As such, we're complying with the contents of the C&D letter until we receive answer from their PR and/or Legal departments.
Most likely Hasbro didn't want MLP to be associated with a competitive fighting game. That, or Hasbro plans on making MLP tie-in games. Microsoft C&D'd a Halo RTS mod for Command & Conquer, then like a week later announced Halo Wars.
What the fuck is the deal with this forum and blatantly false thread titles?
It still burns my heart to see people waste away such talent on ponies, a thing that many many people on the internet hate. Still though, sucks that the effort they did put into this is in harm's way. Ah shit, here come the dumbs.
Bronies or not, I always hate it when fan games get cease and desists
It might suck but from PR point it makes a lot of sense to protect your copyright and trademark. If fans do something negative with the game, a lot of complains will go to the owner of said trademark since most people are stupid and can't tell if it's fan made or not. Hell even Day Z creator got looked down upon for how bad War Z was even though he had nothing to do with it. Even if the company is not greedy, it's still in their best interest to cease and desist.
if anyone is starting an argument it's you
just making a prediction based on how every single pony-related thread went down since 2011
The game is made for no profit. What's the problem?
Probably something along the lines of Hasbro doesn't support the idea of fighting when the show is the complete opposite of fighting.
I know you're trying to defend your fandom or whatever, but jesus christ cool off your jets.
that mean op's words made me sad :(
I can understand how Hasbro doesn't want My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic, a show aimed at underage girls to be in any way associated with a fighting game where ponies are landing punches at each others.
Most likely Hasbro didn't want MLP to be associated with a competitive fighting game. That, or Hasbro plans on making MLP tie-in games. Either A: Hasbro doesn't want the fighting game to 'ruin the friendly image of MLP' (even though other fan games go darker in terms of story and mechanics...), or they are planning a game themselves. Inspiration....god needs something new instead of copying ideas.
What the fuck is the deal with this forum and blatantly false thread titles?
When you get a Cease & Desist letter, you're not far off from a lawsuit. You comply instantly or you get sued for a shitload of money. [editline]10th February 2013[/editline]
This. Either A: Hasbro doesn't want the fighting game to 'ruin the friendly image of MLP' (even though other fan games go darker in terms of story and mechanics...)
As far as I know, those darker fandom things are a fringe minority. But this game would have been much more prominent, especially if it was featured at competitions.
