A new volcanic island has appeared in the Red Sea almost overnight. The eruption was first reported by local fishermen in mid-December 2011, 40 miles off the coast of Yemen. This before and after animated GIF shows the before and after. The second image was taken on January 7, 2012 by the Advanced Land Imager on the Earth Observing-1 satellite. It shows the island well above the sea's surface and still growing while a plume of steam from the water and other volcanic gases are blown by the wind.
According to NASA, the land is "now about 530 by 710 meters (1,700 by 2,300 feet) across."
Time to buy one
I'll be to first to settle on it!
might set off a volcano or two and get some prime island real estate while i still can
Dips on!
Now that's where those LOST-folks went.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy, I can't wait to see close up pictures.
Convert it to an evil volcano lair style themepark.
We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... "This Land!"

Now name them after the Fisherman.
Facepunch Island, anyone?
Interesting, I do wonder how much it will continue to expand, if it will at all.
Atlantis rises again.
Red Sea is best sea.
Dead Island.
Same thing happened off Iceland a few years ago.
Now name them after the Fisherman.
Aye, if it is to be named the fishermen should do it.
Hurry up, men, go and claim it as Facepunchia.
That's where it went when Ben Linus moved it.
This prime slice of real estate has a beautiful view of the ocean on all four sides and is within walking distance to at least 5 heaps of igneous rock.
An even bigger problem looms. Any nearby country is going to wonder if they can claim the island too.

We shall claim and name it F.A.P Facepunch Aquatic Presidency!
What if you actually are the first person on an island and set up home there? Can somebody force you off or not?

Would be interesting. But I think who ever owned that area of the Red Sea would lay claim to the island.
Why did noone set up a damn camera on the neighbour island?
R'lyeh has risen

Since it's within the 200 Mile radius it probably belongs to Yemen.

Let's all donate cash to garry so we have our own Facepunch Resort!
