Russian geneticists are working to resurrect the mammoth, the enormous cold-tolerant mammoth is an ideal animal for agricultural breeding, they say.
“Our studies dedicated to decoding the mammoth’s genome will soon allow us to resurrect this long extinct animal,” Alexei Tikhonov, secretary for the National Mammoth Committee told Life.ru.
"Hey lets resurrect mammoths so we can fuck them over"

it's a great plan
pretty well thought out
i mean, why preserve them?
"Hey lets resurrect mammoths so we can fuck them over"
We breathed life into them, so the least they could do for us is be our slaves for all of eternity.
From the thread title, I thought they meant breeding humans into giants to fight crime or something.
Seems like a pretty expensive start-up cost, although the investment could pay for itself after a couple years(probably decades or centuries until the population gets up). The real question is: Is mammoth meat tasty? I would definitely try it, but did prehistoric man hunt the beast because it was tasty or just because it had a lot of meat to feed a lot of people?
I read the title quickly and thought of mammoth fights. I was disappointed.

No we are saving that for when we breed Tyrannasaurus.
I now wish to try a mammoth burger.
They aren't crazy at all.
If anyone is, it's you for thinking this is a great story.
One average-sized mammoth of four or five tons would provide enough meat for a hundred people for a whole year.
Woah.
Uhh... problem here. An animal that size would need to be fed like crazy. It's kinda like how we don't eat elephants because they need to be fed so much. No, the food of the future is algae. It's low on the food chain, is extremely nutritious, and requires very little to maintain.
Only in CanadA
Makes me think of the Flintstones:

And it tastes like shit so nobody will be fat anymore!
You're a genius!
They need to find some T-Rex DNA, I want one.
A mammoth. Holy hell.
One of those things could probably help world starvation.

Finaly!
Your title = "Fat dumb americans do X"
You don't need to mention drunk when you say russian :v:
Yeah, pretty much the same way you don't need to mention fat and dumb when you say american :downs:
Whoever rated me dumb, I don't mean it, I was just showing the silliness of the above statement. I'm Russian myself, I never drink, and it's kind of disgusting to read this stuff.

Actually I recall a story of an archaeologist serving steak carved from a frozen wooly mammoth, and the account say it was pretty good. I mean man, if the 10,000 year-old frozen shit tastes good, imagine what it's like fresh!
I'm so tempted to make a "in soviet russia" joke but I'll probably get banned :smug:
