• $300 PC using spare parts I already own.

I already got an H61M-VS motherboard, a 250 GB hard drive, a monitor, headphones, and a mouse. Including Windows 8 OEM, what is the best computer I can build for $300? I'm looking for as cheap as possible so try to go under the budget if you can. Just don't skimp on a decent PSU! Note that I'm American, so use American supported sites. One last thing, I'd rather go with a Sandy Bridge since that's all my motherboard supports without having it's BIOS flashed.
Case (With Window): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146102&ignorebbr=1 Case (Without Window): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146075&ignorebbr=1 $10 Rebate before October 2; both are $30 Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130870&ignorebbr=1 $39 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115090&cm_re=I3_2105-_-19-115-090-_-Product $145 DVD-RW: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136270&ignorebbr=1 $18 Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016 $65; you said don't skimp, It's 550W, modular, 80+, has a bigass fan slapped onto it, and is made by arguably the most reliable PSU brand. That should be $297
so a slighter cheaper but better case and includes usb 3 at the front http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163223 instead of non at all
$40 / $30 w/ rebate Vs. $43 / $38 w/ rebate Cheaper as in? Being Matx also kills most high-end boards you might upgrade to in the future, that case also has a top-mounted power supply. No water cooler mounts, and only 2 3.5" bays that don't block the front fan. That's quite a sacrifice for 2 usb 3.0 ports, which OP's board doesn't even support, unless he of course upgrades to a better board. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H61M-VS/?cat=Specifications Edit: I re-read the post and noticed OP did not list Ram as a component he has. Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148787&ignorebbr=1 $34 However this puts you over budget $31, unless you use the corsair power supply, which puts you back in budget at $296. You can snag a I3 2105 for $10 cheaper at Tigerdirect, too: http://biz.tigerdirect.com/p/computer-components/cpus-processors/intel-cpus/core-i3-1156/intel-core-i3-2105-bx80623i32105-processor-dual-core-3mb-l3-smart-cache-512kb-l2-cache-3-10-ghz-socket-h2-lga1155-65w-fan-intel-hd-graphics-retail This puts it at $286 with the corsair supply.
If you're building a PC for $300 (I'm in the same situation), scavenge everything you can and use eBay instead. I'm putting together an i5-2500k / 3570k + GTX660 / R9 270 + 8GB RAM build for around that much, but nearly all of my parts are from slickdeals.net deals, eBay or scavenged. [editline]26th September 2014[/editline] Here's the deal for a CX430 for $20 AR, by the way. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4278581

I haven't had much luck with it in the country but it seems many people have found some pretty good stuff. If you find a pc that doesn't work, at the very least you have a case, and whatever other parts do work.
