The mystery benefactor handed an envelope containing a banker's draft to a volunteer at the Sauchiehall Street branch of Cancer Research UK. It is believed to be the biggest gift received at any Cancer Research shop in the UK and workers at the store now want to trace him to say thanks. Staff put a "Thank-you" banner in the window to mark their appreciation. Volunteer Alexandra MacMillan, 48, said the man came in, smiled and handed the envelope to her. She said that before she could reply he had left. Shop Manager Michelle Fulton said he was not one of their regular customers. She said: "I have been working at this shop for 15 years now, and this is far and away the biggest donation we have ever received." "Occasionally we are given a nice designer dress, or a cheque for a couple of hundred pounds, but this was in a different league altogether." The donation was handed over about three weeks ago. Other big donations include "the first ever" Beano annual which was given to a shop in St Andrews earlier this year and a rare Hermes bag handed into a shop in Pitlochry.
Some people are nice!
I like nice people :3
Dirty money
probably some dodgy money that he had to get rid of quick
Blood money.
Stolen money :bandwagon:
^.
It's a billionaire wanting to get fame. The paradox is that he's anonymous. He is so the press will find out who he is, giving him even more cheers.
he doesnt want your fucking attention goddamn if he wanted it he wouldnt have walked off anonymous
£20,000 = $27,371 :eng101:
"Volunteer Alexandra MacMillan, 48, said the man came in, smiled and handed the envelope to her." My first thought would be that the envelope was a bomb, unless it was a cheque, which is likely the case.
That is very sweet
This is nice and uplifting.
No need to thank me guys.

D'awww that's nice
Most surprising thing is: GLASGOW. I'm glad it wasn't something more gruesome: "Volunteer Alexandra MacMillan, 48, said the man came in, smiled, then malkied her, and proceeded to steal her shoes."
Looked at this after reading this, and it cheered me up :unsmith:
Maybe they didn't want to be found for whatever reason... kind of rude to presume they want to be thanked, not everyone thinks that is important.
You could call that charity :smug: /extremely lame pun
You could call that charity :smug: /extremely lame pun
You do realise that that's the reason why charity is called charity right?
Dirty money or not, it's going to cancer research. Hell, I'd forgive him for murdering everyone in my town if he did that.
I'd forgive him for murdering everyone in my town if he did that.
I know see why you're endangered.
I know see why you're endangered.
Hey, how else get I get donations?
Absolutely positive he stole it.
It was Johnny Depp Remember when he left a $4,000 tip at that restaurant? Yeah.

Even if it was some dirty money or something, getting rid of it like this is really nice.
Why would it be dirty money if it was a bankers draft, why would he go to all the trouble of stealing a draft book and writing it out.
You could call that charity :smug: /extremely lame pun
Could, would and do. That's not even a pun.
