It's a common tactic used by modern field generals in urban warfare. Every squad usually has a "boom-man", which carries a very loud hand sized speaker. After a building has been cleared, they place the speaker in an angle of 90 degrees from where the wind blows, then activate a ballad of gun sounds. This usually disorientates the enemy as they can not distinguish where the gunfire is coming from (thanks to the setup of the speaker), and it provides a morale boost to other soldiers as they know they've got the upper hand.
