WASHINGTON — President Obama sought to revive the issue of growing income equality on Wednesday, saying it restricts economic mobility and threatens to shrink the middle class.
"I believe this is the defining challenge of our time," Obama said in a speech at an event hosted by the Center for American Progress, a pro-Obama think tank. "It drives everything I do in this office."
The growing gap between rich and poor can be closed by actions ranging from an increase in the minimum wage to better education to following through on his health care plan, Obama said.

yes lets talk about this and not the fact that soon a good portion of the us will be fucked when they can't afford to pay for health care, nor even the fines they will incur by not having the health care they can't afford
yes
good job a++ discussion 2008 go obama
"It drives everything I do in this office."
like bailing out banks?
Figures he would use this to push his healthcare thing again. So far it hasn't been working out and he has already failed to deliver on so many promoses before. Hard to believe anything he promises anymore.

Hopefully he puts his last 2 years to good use

Hell, if you can even get pass the verification system at the end of the website.
I thought poor people didn't have to pay the fines
They have to pay a smaller fine than people who make more.

I think it's safe to say that no one will vote for him next election
going back to 2008, when even though I'm right wing, I thought obama wouldn't be half bad.
Yeah hopefully the last two(ish) years of his term go by fast.

Most people really believed what he had to say, we had just gone through 8 years of Bush, which was horrible enough to make people sick to elect another republican.
Even though Mitt Romney was a pretty bad candidate, I thought for sure people would see Obama for the fraud that he is, but apparently people still think he's the best president there ever was.
It's going to be a long three years.
Fooled people once by being nothing but an above average public speaker, buuuut I don't think it's gonna win many over a second time around.
Fooled people once by being nothing but an above average public speaker, buuuut I don't think it's gonna win many over a second time around.
Umm, you know he was already elected a second time two years ago right?
Umm, you know he was already elected a second time two years ago right?
Not what I was saying. He just started doing a ton of dumb shit, I don't think he's gonna be able to get people to like him again just by having good speeches. Not that it matters at this point, we're already stuck with him.

Obama's popularity among liberals is not that good considering he gets blamed for stuff like the NSA
People don't seem to realize that not only can he not do anything about it, but even speaking out against the NSA would do nothing but burn bridges with others in government.
The biggest thing to be pissed about is how poorly the health care bill is being handled. It's 90% good but the part that needs attention is the part everyone is focus on and the part that many people think is the entirety of the bill (the individual and employer mandates). Although the republicans are slightly at fault for wanting to skin the bill entirely instead of fix it, Obama and the democrats are the most at fault for not suggesting amendments to fix the problems with the bill.
Obama is not the be-all-end-all president, BUT I voted for him because all other options available to us have literally been Hitler.

excellent use of the word 'literally'

Honestly it was vote for an obviously bad candidate, or vote for a bad candidate that looks like a good candidate. We don't exactly get a lot of options here.
To be honest a lot of the problems with his policies is the fact that they're mutilated by an obstructionist Republican Party, which is why Obamacare isn't great.
You guys do know about third parties right? Even I voted Green in 2012. If any of you dare say "why vote for a 3rd party if they never win?" I will [sp]creampie your asshole[/sp]

Ah yes, that was impressive when Hitler rose from the grave, ran for President, and landed every position in the race except Obama's.

i remember the ballot like it was yesterday
Hitler:
Hitler:
Hitler's Clone, Hitler:
Obama:
in any case, if he wanted to really fix healthcare he would have gone for an actual universal healthcare system instead of making a monster out of the insurance companies because now you are required by law to have insurance, which is going to bring the big insurance companies tons and tons of cash
and his party is so reliant on the big business's political donations, they won't ever do anything to stop the massive gulf.

As I said before, Mitt Romney was a terrible candidate, but comparing him to hitler is just stupid. It's like saying Obama is anti-christ, or what ever those bible thumpers say.
I blame the GOP and RNC for Obama's re-election. They keep pushing shitty candidates saying, "THEY'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I don't understand republicans still listen to idiots like Karl Rove.

romney and obama are both quasi-fascists who serve the elite in the united states, but mitt romney doesn't even try to act like he serves any interest but the elite. at least obama sorta has to try to look like he cares about the american people.

I think Herman Caine would have made a great president. I think he would have done a hell of a lot better in the election than Romney. It's a shame that scandal came out, his 999 plan was pretty decent.

his 999 plan was a joke and herman cain was a joke to everyone. i mean he was hilarious, but i don't think he would have been a serious contender.

Are you of the opinion that the RNC should have chosen a candidate farther to the right? I know a popular sentiment amongst conservatives following the 2012 election was that their guy lost because he was too moderate. Which is hilarious.

I am pretty sure his entire campaign was an intentional joke wasn't it?
Didn't he get caught quoting pokemon like multiple times?
Where did they even find Herman Cain? I mean in total there's about zero black people in existence that supports the GOP.
