• Monitor Issues.

I recently got a new GTX 760. I've been using a VGA cord to connect my PC to my monitor for the longest time (with a DVI to VGA converter on the back of my pc). However, I always get these very faint screen-tear looking lines across my screen. Anyway, so I decided to try out HDMI. HDMI looks great with no "screen tearing" problems, but everything is completely white-washed looking. I've gone into my Nvidia control panel, changed around a bunch of settings (gamma, contrast, brightness, etc), but I cannot get it to look normal to save my life. I've tried my monitor settings as well. It's either so bright in areas that I can't even read text, or so dark that... I can't even read certain text. Or the colors get all warped out, turning blacks to navy blues, etc. I've even changed the digital display format thingy from RGB to Yyccppe or whatever. No difference. I'm running Win 8.1. Any ideas?
Hm, I'm wondering whether it's an issue with the monitor or Windows. If you say, open the BIOS, and try switching between VGA and HDMI do you see any difference?
I do notice a difference. The colors on VGA seem to be much more... Normal. Like I said, when I do HDMI, they're very bright and white-washed.
Then it's definitely a monitor issue, which unfortunately makes it more difficult to fix. Apart from tweaking your monitor/Nvidia settings your best option would be to stick to VGA or buy a new monitor
I fixed it! It turns out my monitor, if you dig deep in the settings menu, has visual presets. It was set to "Scenery" rather than normal. All better!
