If you would actually know what went wrong, he doesn't directly go for out and play to hurt people. He is not careful enough how he places his tackles though.

Ben Arfa was the creative playmaker we needed. De Jong couldn't have injured a worse person.

If you followed football, you'd realize that this sort of thing doesn't happen on a regular basis, and it's not a summary of his footballing style that he goes around kicking people. He's actually a pretty good player.
