Square Enix is giving away an actual, real-life island to the winner of a newly announced Just Cause 3 competition. To receive the special code required to participate in this contest, you must pre-order the game. “The contest will be an exercise in destruction, with participants racing to score the most Chaos Points by unleashing Rico Rodriguez’s collection of guns, bombs, vehicles and his faithful grappling hook to wreak havoc all over the in-game island of Medici,” Square Enix said in a press release. “The more creative and inventive the mayhem, the more Chaos Points players will earn, with an actual island at stake for the top-scoring winner.” The island’s location is to be determined by the competition’s sponsor. It is not guaranteed to be inhabitable, developed, or reachable by any means other than a boat. The island will be valued at up to $50,000 USD. Winners may also opt to receive a cash prize instead of the island.
Gematsu http://jc3winanisland.com/ Unfortunately, the contest is only open for residents of US, Canada (except Quebec), Mexico and Chile.
The island is probably a little spec of dirt.
The island is probably a little spec of dirt.
Still, it's a fucking island. I'd love an island to myself.

twist it's actually Rhode Island
this is the stupidest thing
Sketchy as fuck, but clever thinking on their part. I'd bet people might actually fall for this.
Say you win this island tomorrow, what would you even do with it? It would cost a lot of money I think to ship materials and build things there to do anything with.
So, is there a reason there's no Day One edition for PC?
Details about this giveaway. PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will win ownership rights to an Island, valued at up to $50,000 USD or $50,000 USD in cash. Location of Island to be determined by Sponsor. All taxes and fees associated with purchasing and obtaining of Island (including but not limited to attorney's fees, escrow, and closing costs) are the responsibility of the Winner. Sponsor does not guarantee the Island to be inhabitable, developed or reachable by any means other than a boat. It also looks like you need to have the most "chaos points" after 90 days, aka play tons of JC3.
what stopping people from using things like cheatengine to just give themselves shittons of chaos points

If I win, I shall make the island a facepunch island
Facepunch can finally make Facepunch Island
I dunno, 50 grand might be able to buy a decent Greek island nowadays.
May the best cheater win. This isn't going to go well.
Its possible that they have a way to weed out cheated scores. Like, they might have it setup in a way that its only possible to get X amount through normal gameplay within the time limit and exceeding that puts the score into question/up for review. Then again the contest might be moreso towards console players as they may not be aware of any sort of cheat utilities available for current consoles.
Another name for this could be the "whoever opens cheat engine first wins"
So just have 2-3 people constantly playing JC3 for the next 90 days and split the cash 2-3 ways.
Do I win the inhabitants of the island as my slaves?
This is amazing and I hope whoever wins takes the island but sells it immediately because there is no fucking way anyone who would play this long for a contest would ever be able to afford the taxes for the thing
This is just going to go to a kid who has the time to play it 24/7. So why should I, as a full grown adult with a full time job even bother trying? They should of just did a draw for the people who bought it.
This will probably go to 1. someone who cheats, or 2. someone who finds some sort of exploit that allows them to blow up the same thing over and over or something.
isn't this illegal under sweepstakes law
Nice idea but I'm pretty sure people would rather get the cash.
I wish Square would develop more games then they publish...
I bet they bought it cheap from Greece lol.
I'm more impressed that I can buy an island for only $50,000. If anybody would like to help me purchase an island, I am available to donations of any amount between $1 and $50,000.

I can imagine people dying of exhaustion trying to win this, although 90 days is very spread out
