Raspberry Pi B model into a car monitor error

Hey guys,

So currently I am trying to hook up my raspberry pi to my screen inside my car. However when I do the screen goes like this:

Would anyone know what this is called, and possibly what might cause it?

To hook the pi up to the monitor I am using a hdmi-vga converter which I then hook up to the screen using this diagram:

It looks like there's some problem with the sync, or your car's display doesn't support the resolution or refresh rate you're trying to drive it at.
