Avi Arad doesn't want his precious Spider-Man in the Avengers
‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ producers Avid Arad and Matthew Tolmach discuss the difficulties in bridging Spidey’s universe with that of ‘The Avengers.’
Here’s what Arad had to say:
“I for one don’t see the value for us in it. I think we’re doing such a good job with the Spider-Man Universe. Spider-Man is arguably the number one character in the world. He shouldn’t make a cameo.”
Amazing Spider-Man was okay, the sequel looks awful though

"number one character in the world"
Yea-no
The effects in trailers are never 100% finished, though.

Hulk, Iron Man, Captain Murrica
I thought the reason Spiderman couldn't be in Avengers was cause Sony didn't want to give up the rights to Spiderman.
I thought the bigger issue was that Sony own exclusive rights for Spiderman because of something ages ago.

That's pretty much it.

Here let me help you

If that doesn't help you might want to buy a brain, i heard those come with common sense, free of charge
I would love Spider-man in an avengers movie.
I thought the new spiderman movie was awful
Spider-Man is in my top 3 favorite superheroes and it kind of bums me out that they have him seemingly cut off from the rest of the Marvel films canon. It's not like the reboot was any good, either.
Sony is literally making spiderman movies for the sole reason of not losing the license. That's the only reason he has any recognition with spiderman is due to necessity.

I thought it was better than the original ones, then again it's not hard to make better than tobey maguire

It wasn't awful, just like after Spiderman 2 no other Spiderman film is going to be that good so it has a lot to live up too. It's a shame cause Andrew Garfield is great as peter

it's not about living up to it. tasm was just a mediocre movie with poor characterization, i'm sure plenty of people would have judged it without comparing it to raimi's trilogy TOO much if it was a good movie
thanks avi, you can go back to being a no-name hack now
spiderman is tied with batman as my fav superhero (not the nolan batman tho, i'm talkin old school cartoon batman) and i would definitely acknowledge he's probably in third-ish place popularity wise behind batman and iron man. but i still def think he's the best. they should put him in. but don't worry, this is all part of the canon: spider-man turned down the first offer to join the avengers! and i think he fucked it up the second time iirc so we've got a while to go, there will be something in the third avengers movie where he's supposed to come in but there's some copyright bullshit or something.

i may have been 11 when that movie came out but i still thought it was good, and i still kinda like it as of a couple years ago when i watched it again

The original three movies are cheesy as fuck, Tobey Maguire is overreacting like a monkey on cocaine and there is a lot of weird shit going on. The third one is abysmal and the second one is easily the best of the series.
The first one is forgettable.

Weird to think that one movie shot Iron Man from an obscure second-rate comic hero to one of the most popular ones world-wide. Totally deserved too.

I personally really liked the cheesy direction. Spidey is not overly serious.
The original three movies are cheesy as fuck
They were comic book movies by Sam Raimi lol
hell they're STILL not as cheesy as Thor and Capt America imo.

man maybe it's just the nostalgia but Green Goblin was a kickass villain, way better than Doc Oc
The Amazing Spiderman had a better Spiderman than Sam Raimi's movies if you like the newer arrogant, wisecracking character but Tobey Maguire was a much better Peter Parker (forget Spiderman 3, it was a disaster on multiple fronts). Andrew Garfield's delivery of the terrible dialogue interspersed with sighs and stammers was excruciating and the bad guy I can't even remember the name of was more of a cliche than anything in Raimi's trilogy.
iirc they planned on putting oscorp in the background when the chitauri were attacking new york in the avengers, but they didn't have enough time to put it in
Tobey Maguire was a better Peter Parker, not just because of his acting but also because of the writing. I've said this already, but TASM's Peter was too many things at the same time. Skater, photographer, genius, and also good looking, fashionable and romantic, but somehow socially awkward and nerdy.
Tobey's Peter was always the awkward nerdy dude, even after turning into Spider-man. Garfield turns into a smartass for some reason, add up the fact that also there's almost no allusion to the fact that he's a genius before he makes the web-shooters and you have a lot of stuff that feels out of place with his character.
Overacting or not, I loved Willem Dafoe as the green goblin, and as cheesy as the movies were, the first one had better character development (and fights that weren't all cgi) then TASM

um excuse me spiderman is deep dark and very serious

the spider man movies were the worst super hero movies. The sam raimi ones are even better than the amazing spiderman movies and that's saying a lot
The one good scene in all of spiderman cinema was that non cgi fight between spidey and the green goblin in the burned out building. That was so badass
[editline]19th January 2014[/editline]
donald glover could have saved spiderman
[editline]19th January 2014[/editline]
actually now that i think of Thor, The Avengers, the third Iron Man etc... Sam Raimi's spiderman movies might be the best ones. which is really sad

idk what you're talking about the spider man movies brought back the superhero film genre after the bad batman flicks
