A Hawker Hunter plane has crashed into several vehicles after coming down at Shoreham Airshow in West Sussex.
Sussex Police said there are several casualties, but could not give details on their condition.
The plane crashed into vehicles on the nearby A27. The road is likely to remain closed for several hours.
Eyewitness Stephen Jones said the plane was performing a loop but did not complete the manoeuvre and crashed.
He said: "The aeroplane involved is a Hawker Hunter T mark 7. And he'd just begun his flying display.
"He'd gone up into a loop and as he was coming out of the loop I just thought, you're too low, you're too low, pull up.
"And he flew straight into the ground either on or very close to the A27, which runs past the airport."
The Hawker Hunter T is a jet trainer I believe?
The Hawker Hunter T is a jet trainer I believe?
Which T# do you mean? The single seat variants were fighter/bombers and recon, 2 seat variants were for training. The one that unfortunately crashed today was a T7 two seater training variant
Several vehicles in what looks like a large impact, hope this isn't as bad as it sounds
Added clear view footage to OP.
Not a hunter ;_;7
well, the pilot shouldn't of been performing that maneuver at that altitude.
Looks like the pilot couldn't pull out in time ;_;

Keen observation
Fuck, that footage is horrible. I really hope no vehicles got hit head on and the rumors are true that he was pulled from the wreckage, because it doesn't look good.

Holy fuck, that must have been terrifying for the people driving down it.

Flying daring maneuvers is kind of the point of an airshow though. I'm sure he was a trained professional who has practiced this sort of thing for many years and knew what he was doing. But with such a small margin for error, it doesn't take much for an accident to occur
That stretch of the A27 is a real bad place to crash into since it's almost always full of slow moving traffic.

People are advised to avoid it for the rest of the entire day. Traffic is gonna be bad south west. Not that traffic matters

I googled it and I assumed it was a trainer considering how lightweight it looks.

Im well aware of that, but his altitude was too low when he was at the apex. Trained or not, poorly calculated maneuvers are going to cause accidents like this.

God I doubt it that fireball is huge he was probably instantly crisped
7 people dead, this is crazy i cant believe what a silly accident this was
So much open fields around, and it hits the only road where there were many cars on it. What a bad luck for those people :(

The pilot may have been using the road as a straight visual aid to complete his roll in a precise way, so it's likely he was sortof aiming to be parallel with the road to be precise
Gorgeous aircraft. It really had to take out a classic Jag, too?
My cousin and her kids nearly went to this, and felt thankful that she didn't go in the end as it would really upset my little cousins.
Thoughts are with all those affected, including the emergency services.
I saw somewere that the pilot had been pulled out of the wreckage
Airshow accidents really happen quite often, they shouldn't be pulling off such risky maneuvers.
Somone on twitter managed to take a hell of a photo.

Holy fuck those people on the right
Holy shit, this is just tragic.
I live like a minutes drive from the crash, somehow I didn't hear it go down, I think I had headphones on at the time but what a tragic shame it hit the motorway when there are huge fields on either side.
Was there at the airshow watching it, absolutely horrible thing to see
