High-resolution aerial photos taken over Brisbane last week have revealed the scale of devastation across dozens of suburbs and tens of thousands of homes and businesses.
The aerial photos of the Brisbane floods were taken in flyovers on January 13 and January 14.
Hover over each photo to view the devastation caused by flooding.
This is part one of an ABC News special presentation showing before and after photos of the floods.
You have to click the link to see them. Put your cursor over the photo and you can move a bar to show before the floods and after it. Pretty scary stuff.
Oh my god...that's horrible :frown:
:ohdear:
As bad as that looks, i'm sure it would look even worse closer up. I'd like to see some pics of the devastation at street level.
Here's the second page

Yeah, that looks a lot worse. Man, that's just awful. Has there been any estimates of the damages?
And why do you like flooding, Trogdon?
It has happened before.

None of the Victorian, NSW or Western Australia floods on the website.
At least it got greener.
I was lucky the flood didn't reach me, and I only lived two and a half streets away from the closest flooded area near me.

Definitely a case of 'be careful what you wish for'.
I laughed because the before-after images superimposed is so awesome to spin left right left right and watch :buddy:
I am a horrible human being :ohdear:

I was thinking the same thing.
Terrible for those affected, though.

You just made my day. Thank you sir.
You know what the worst part is? There's bull sharks in that water.
I still don't understand how the water doesn't just fall off
I love all the people canoeing through the city. :v:
Damn, man. That is pretty sad.
Australia is covered in chocolate milk.
That's a lot of chocolate milk

I went into the police-taped off areas in the CBD of Brisbane, there's nothing to see but mud

Actually thats not true, I saw some water but it was a bit boring to look at, but it is eerie when you think about it
Not exactly a huge travesty though since QLD has a $678 billion dollar disaster chest
Seeing as Australia is a rather rich nation, I think they will get through this quite well. If this happened in India or Bangladesh though... (which it does quite often actually)
