This game is such a god damn joke.
So he lists things everyone was complaining about a month ago and calls it a review.
So he lists things everyone was complaining about a month ago and calls it a review.
That's how zero punctuation's always functioned, what's wrong with it
This game is such a god damn joke.
It's probably the best base game sims that's ever come out.
while I like zero punctuation, every now and then he puts out a review that I really disagree with, or think he missed the mark on. this is one of those times. in fact, besides the bit about animations, I didn't really feel he'd played the game at all. It was all just the same shit people had been complaining about for months, and now the only people who think those things are people who haven't played the game. Nobody who has played the game would lament the loss of the open world and say that it doesn't feel much, much smoother than the sims 3's bloated wank. Similarly, nobody who had played the game would miss toddlers or pools because those weren't core to the sims gameplay. Again, the only people who miss pools are those people whose entire knowledge of the sims is "lol make family burn their house down !!" - As if watching your sims die was some sort of required, important feature.

I spent more time in the Sims 3 loading save files than actually playing it. And I don't know about everyone else here, but the sim design in the Sims 3 always seemed odd to me, maybe it was the eyes and the stiff animation.
So he lists things everyone was complaining about a month ago and calls it a review.
Yeah Doesn't make it any less valid
lmao have you even played this? It's not even remotely bad, it's only major flaws are the lack of open world and a lack of content, the core game-play and visual style are vastly improved from sims 3, overall it's a pretty enjoyable game
:v:
:v:
Ahahahaha Literally the only "improvement" the Sims 4 has is terrible bloom lighting Maxis, what the fuck are you doing
:v:
One's shooting for realism, one's shooting for a less serious, cartoonish style it'd be like comparing Team Fortress Classic and Team Fortress 2 (although that's probably a terrible example, you get the point)
:v:
That is the most ridiculous comparison I've seen. Two completely different art styles going on. I think the Sims 4 one looks nicer.
To be honest sims 4 looks a LOT better than sims 3, who gives a shit about detailed textures on the trees when the sims in sims 3 looked like plastic anime dolls. The sims in Sims 4 look a loT better and are actually fun to look at now. I found it really annoying myself too at first when all ea/maxis would tell about sims 4 was ~~the emotions¨~~, but honestly ive been playing this game for 2 weeks now cos the sims are a lot of fun to play as now. They dont look ugly and they dont act like complete emotionless robots who just stand there until you make them interact(and even in sims 3, most of the interactions were reused animations that got tiring REAL fast). I dont like how they didnt add stuff to sims 4 that have been in the previous base games(pools, toddlers(?! i mean yea theyve been annoying but cmon, just make them more fun and dont remove them entirely :v:), some careers, story progression in the neighborhood..Theres more shit i know theyve forgotten to add(or not added on purpose..), which makes this game not worth 60 bucks. Is it a bad game though? Fuck no, i think its definitely worth like 30 bucks or something. I just hope ea doesnt fuck it up from now on and actually adds lot of worthy content in the future expansions(or god forbid, in some free updates too)
Maybe I'm simply not big enough of a Sims fan to understand, but "sure it has smaller levels and less content, but it looks pretty and streamlined now and those features weren't part of the core gameplay now" sounds pretty terrible to me. Feels like a flashback to when "console shooters" drove people mad. Tiny levels to look prettier, 2 guns, but hey you still shoot people. Is three such a big flavor difference that getting a "naked" Sims 4 instead of a Sims 3 bundle is preferable in some cases? Having to accept that the game you're buying is mostly DLC infrastructure sounds almost Early Access-levels of unwise decision making to me.
:v:
i've never seen bloom like this in any other screenshot of the sims 4
Yeah Doesn't make it any less valid
Yeah but did he really bring up any new points other than emotions being shit? (which is up to opinions)
I get that a hyper realistic Sims game that takes higher specs than Crysis: 8K edition would be weird but come on the over simplified art style just looks stupid imo I also agree that the texture changing feature was really neat in Sims 3 and taking it out was such a bad move
Yeah but did he really bring up any new points other than emotions being shit? (which is up to opinions)
I don't get it Why do you want him to bring up points nobody else has brought up so bad? Of course he's going to talk about the most glaring flaws, and of course the most glaring flaws will have been mentioned already, the games been out for what, a month? Do you want him to nitpick so he makes SURE that he complains about things that no one else has complained about before?
My problem with the Sims 4 is that it is an inherently flawed game, and has a number of notable omissions that cannot be added in later with expansions. The biggest being the open world, which if they included it, they could've done a lot with, but it's omission severely limits the game's potential. In addition, they really could've improved on the games graphics. I ain't asking for much, but the ability to have things like improved floor textures, improved shading, etc. Would've really helped it.

I want to know what else is wrong with the game besides the obvious flaws.

That picture is supposed to be a joke, right?
I don't mind the graphics. I just don't like that they got rid of the open neighborhood and CAST. My 2 favorite features of Sims 3. After having that then going to not having it, I don't want to buy TS4.
The Sims 4 is nothing but a nice base for upcoming expansion packs, and it's nowhere near as bad people make it out to be. If anything i'm really impressed how many low end systems run this game like a charm. The soundtrack is also pretty fucking great. Alot of it is just people romanticising this whole ordeal, like usual.
:v:
I love how it says sims 3 has more detailed textures, implying they are an improvement, when those textures look ugly as hell. Leaves/bushes have no lighting on them and look like they have full-bright enabled, the grass ground is too noisy for my liking (the car also looks like it isn't receiving any light sources and just sits there like a dark, plain, and ugly mess), and the road just looks like a generic flat brick texture painted on the ground instead of actually looking like a road. [editline]17th September 2014[/editline] Also fuck that "no ears" shit that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Actually yeah, I do. That's not what Zero Punctuation is.
It's worth pointing out that although there is no open world, we haven't reverted to the good old days of sims 2 where your playspace is your house and your front/backyard. There's a semi-open world. for example, when your sim visits the gym, they are whisked away to this area that contains a gym, a museum, a bar and a lounge. Across the road from these four buildings is a small public space along with a playground for kids. Your sim can interact with anything in the gym, as well as anything outside the gym in this area. If your sim instead wants to go to the bar, you click on the bar and, after a loading screen, the focus instead shifts to the bar, and your sim can now only interact with the stuff inside the bar. Loading takes less than a minute. In the Sims 3, the only difference is that there would be no loading screen. You can't actually look inside buildings when your sim isn't physically there, in either game. In the Sims 3 it has the illusion of seamlessness due to lack of loading screens but in all honesty it's not that big of a deal. Unless you have a fiery burning hatred for loading screens, it's a non-issue.

In my opinion it really does look better in Sims 3
My main issue is that when one sim is in a different part of town, I cant check on both sims easily.
well, your other sims take care of themselves just fine while you're away, and you can even have them build skills or do other things while you're looking after the sim you have control of. alternatively, you can actually go back to controlling another sim without having the sim you had travel return home, if that makes sense. You can switch control of sims quite easily, with a loading screen in between
