Villagers in Russia's south Urals have stumbled upon a gruesome discovery — four barrels containing 248 human fetuses left in a forest.
Police in the Sverdlovsk region said Tuesday the fetuses, preserved in formaldehyde, were kept in barrels with tags containing surnames and numbers.
Police suspects that one of the four local hospitals is responsible for dumping the barrels.
The fetuses were found a few miles away from a highway linking the region's capital, Yekaterinburg, with another big city, Nizhny Tagil.
jesus christ that's horrifying
I- What?
Like, what the FUCK?
waiting for my russian friend to rant at me about how much russia sucks
Is there any reason to put them in formaldehyde besides preserving them?
Hospitals dumping babies in barrels...
Why on earth would you do that, why would you preserve them like this?
OP's avatar fits, sort of.
Also imagine being the guy who discovered 248 fetuses in a barrel somewhere.

It's more formal, and it hydes them.
Jesus christ, that's horrifying. Like, straight out of a heavy metal song or a horror movie.
It's more formal, and it hydes them unlike the ones in the OP.
huehhuhehuehuehueheuheu
Somehow, I can't help but think the foundation is involved in this.
Just as i watch American Horror Story...
Wait why were they trying to preserve them if they are just gonna dump them in a forest?
Thats like a republicans nightmare.

There are a lot of uses for fetuses. Stem cells, make-up products, traditional dead-baby medicines etc. A waste to let them rot, which is why they preserve them.
They probably were in barrels hidden in the woods for selling on the black market.
They wanted to show they are pro-choice, I guess.
[sp]Too soon?[/sp]
Jesus Hobbling Christ on a crutch.
Thats 248 fetuses, how the fuck did this happen?
Is there any reason to put them in formaldehyde besides preserving them?
They don't rot. You'd need special barrels to store organic matter because of the pressure of the gas the rotting would produce

And why would you rather have the babies not rot inside barrels instead of like burying them in the forest?
They could've been used for stem cell research. :saddowns:
What the shitting slippery dick nipples.
Seriously, why Russia?
russia is some serious shit.
To everyone above: you don't get embryonic stem cells from formed fetuses. You get embryonic stem cells within the first few days of fertilization. And if you just want any stem cells, not just embryonic, then you can just get it from adults. Adults have a constant supply of stem cells in their bones and the like, they're just not as versatile in research as embryonic stem cells.
I've always wondered how many dead babies would fit in 4 barrels.
And now I know.

Can you make a joke like that with the IUPAC name for formaldehyde, methanal, eh?!
Bad bad bad
I have an image in my head of a bureaucrat just counting fetuses at a desk.
Maybe it was just a guy with a creepy collection. Didn't want people to find out. I mean if I collected fetuses I definitely wouldn't want people to know.
whats worse than 248 dead fetuses in a barrel? one dead fetus in 248 barrels
edit: I dont want to say the event is funny ofcourse
I don<t see what,s so bad about this. When a lady gets an abortion the feotuses dont just disappear. What are ya gonna do with em anyway.
