Well, considering the release rate of Android phones I'm not all that surprised. The Droid Eris was basically a refurbished HTC Hero though, and the European Hero looked way more striking compared to this version.

Personally I prefer a larger screen, so I'm hoping the Droid X or Evo 4G will come to the UK.
HTC is awful in comparison to the iPhone.
I love my Droid incredible, don't like 4.3 inch screen phones they're way too big for me to be comfortable with.

Plus iirc it has more processing power than the iphone
and built in camera flash

All I know is that the iPhone looks nice, feels nicer, looks nicer and runs alot smoother in my opinion.
Not to mention all of the apps.
General public don't give two shits about technical things with phones, so they get with the prettier ones that are easy enough for their minds to comprehend and then hype it up since it's so easy but obviously not the best in the market, so who cares?
They're happy and they're not asking people that are tech savvy (most/some of FP) for help with their shit.

im staying with the iphones till android surpasses iphone in quality apps that apple's app store manages to shit out every week, Is able to take my whole music library from itunes with me, and has just as awesome gaming capabilities as the iphone with the gyroscope stuff and games like flight control, real racing, pocket god, rock band, Guitar hero, Tap tap revenge, and many more.
