He is expected to spend the remainder of a five-year prison sentence at his uncle's home in Pretoria. Pistorius, 28, shot Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door but said he thought she was an intruder. Ms Steenkamp's relatives say they think Pistorius is "getting off lightly".
poor guy huh
what the fuck
South Africa's justice system is a fucking joke
not even a year, jeez
It's amazing how quickly things change. I have a school textbook from January 2013 that states how Oscar Pistorius is an amazing human being and how Tom Hanks respects him and shit.
He hasn't got a fucking leg to stand on for a start.
but his house is where it happened
The famous and rich don't have to obey the same laws the rest of us does.
don't matter whether hes innocent or not, he should stay in jail. he took a life, and hes already out of prison in less than a year.
don't matter whether hes innocent or not, he should stay in jail. he took a life, and hes already out of prison in less than a year.
what
don't matter whether hes innocent or not, he should stay in jail. he took a life, and hes already out of prison in less than a year.
Given the circumstance it seems more like just an unfortunate accident. But with your logic if you're driving a car and a child darts out between cars without looking and is struck and killed by your car, you're a fucking abomination and a monster against man.
what
i meant it in the context of the controversy in people wondering whether or not he murdered his wife or shot her accidentally in the bathroom thinking it was a burglary. so whether it was murder or manslaughter, he should still be in jail nonetheless, not outside.

I really don't know how he got off. Its crazy
So you're saying manslaughter should be equal in severity to murder?
no i'm saying regardless to whether or not hes gotten a manslaughter charge or a murder charge he should stay in jail for the time and not be let out in less than a fucking year.
no i'm saying regardless to whether or not hes gotten a manslaughter charge or a murder charge he should stay in jail for the time and not be let out in less than a fucking year.
And then stay in a fucking mansion of all places.
not even a year, jeez
To be honest a year in jail should be the most for a lot of crimes. Then stuff like house arrest and such after for a period of time with rehabilitation. Unless there violent or a threat to society keeping them locked up is just going to make it harder for them to get back into society once the sentence is over. The thing is you need to rehabilitate the person not just punishment. Just because someone does something horrible it doesn't mean they are horrible people. This is also south africa, my metal shop teacher in highschool told me some stories about that place. The most fucked up one is that in some of the poorer places you drive and you do not stop. The people will strip you of everything if you put yourself into that situation. If you run someone over you just keep going and once out of town go the police station and report it. Which then they will go in with a van full of police to get that person. Need to remember some places on earth are nothing like where you live.

He murdered his girlfriend while she was hiding locked in the bathroom. He isn't some poor guy living in poverty. He is a millionaire who is not sitting comfortably in a mansion.
A guy with no history of prior murders, unlikely to reoffended, burglaries with deadly results being decently common there so that crazy it isn't to think that would happen. And corruption would probably make it impossible to find a prison suitable for his needs as an amputee or to stay away from gangs wanting to extort money (after all it's the country where powerstations get funded to expanded and never expand and let the people deal with it). Most of that are just biases from me except the power thing. Dunno about SA but here the entire imprisonment before trial also counts for earlier release as you already were in prison anyway.
You are telling me he got out his bed, put on his legs, retrieved a gun and fired into the locked bathroom without even checking or noticing to see if his girlfriend was in bed? Adding to the fact that multiple neighbors claim to have heard an intense argument before the shooting. It is insane anyone could suggest this was an accident. He deserves to be in prison far more than his original sentence. [editline]24th October 2015[/editline] I mean your first reaction to hearing someone in your bathroom is to shoot four times through the door?
No. No No Great that its a fact. Haven't followed the entire case but people at times just invent parts around a crime that never happen or fail to recall crucial details and just fill in the blanks with wrong facts. I'm not, I'm just stating that with these factors anywhere on the planet it's not hard to think the sentences would be heavily reduced. Even having shot a person with intent because you're in a hissy fit doesn't make you automatically a person that is going to reoffend. At this point, I would say I get problems breathing with a number of words you try to shove in just so you can express you lynch mob mentality over things that are pretty standard. Sorry, I'm a bit pissy today. The answer to "What does any of that have to do with this?" would be, a lot, you just disregard it whit the justs you want.
My point is that anyone with any bit of sense should be able to look at this and realize how absurd the suggestion that he accidentally shot his girlfriend is. What he alleged happened is so unbelievable that any local factors involving crime shouldn't come into play. Hence why I said "What does any of that have to do with this?". South Africa no doubt is a different place but the circumstances of this case are so clear cut. As for "lynch mob mentality" I am not sure what you mean by this

What public opinion thinks is controversial or not should have no impact on your jail time, ever. If prosecution cannot prove without doubt you killed someone, it should be a sentence in your favour. Because you know "in dubio pro reo"
