http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27852832
The violent insurgency in Iraq is the "predictable and malign effect" of the West's inaction over Syria, former UK prime minister Tony Blair has said. Writing on his website, he said the takeover of Mosul by Sunni insurgents was planned across the Syrian border. Every time "we put off action, the action we will be forced to take will be ultimately greater", he added. He said the idea that the current crisis was a result of the toppling of Saddam Hussein in 2003 was "bizarre". "We have to liberate ourselves from the notion that 'we' have caused this," he wrote. "We haven't." ... Mr Blair said: "I understand all the reasons following Afghanistan and Iraq why public opinion was so hostile to involvement. He said action in Syria "did not and need not be as in those military engagements". "Where the extremists are fighting, they have to be countered hard, with force," he said. "This does not mean Western troops as in Iraq. "There are masses of responses we can make short of that. "But they need to know that wherever they're engaged in terror, we will be hitting them."
Here's his full post
Yeah because dropping untraceable arms into the region wouldn't have just allowed it to happen even sooner.

You directly caused it you fool.
Nobody cares what you think Tony Blair you asshat.
"We have to liberate ourselves from the notion that 'we' have caused this," he wrote. "We haven't."
he's right, "we" didn't cause this, him and Bush fucking did.
Nobody cares what you think Tony Blair you asshat.
A lot of people care, rightly or wrongly he has a lot of knowledge of the middle east. He is also pretty good at arranging peace deals..
I like the part where he absolves the west of all blame, especially in light of that time they went gung-ho into Iraq with very little idea of how they would set up a competent government which wouldn't cause sectarian tensions to boil over.
He's just saying shit. Do you guys REALLY think those are his ACTUAL thoughts? I don't think so. This is just the same shit we have always heard. I crave the day when a celeberty comes out and explains what's going on. For now we only have big artists that still are independent and pretty underground for the public. We surely have more, but what comes to mind is: 1. Immortal technique 2. payday monsato 3. vinnie paz 4. eyedea Those are the ones i can think of now. Few, huh? Few, but still very well known artists. Tony blair is just saying what we all have heard before. And we can all sense there are a full amount of bullshit in those sentenses. I've been smoking weed for 8 years and I don't think any of that crap The only thing these people at the top care about it making money and making sure nobody finds out how bad they are in a human rights sense, health and safety, all that
