My friend Jackald came up with an idea. This wrangler encourages spies. When's the one time an entrenched engie has to switch weapons? To deal with a spy. If the sentry's disabled it's easier to take down. a front on attack is a lot harder with that shield and the extra fire rate, but a sneaky spy coming up and backstabbing the engie will now be viable, since the sentry won't instantly turn around and kill the spy.

Disguises won't work. Engies would be able to spy-check.

Unless the engie also gets a dispenser that can refill the sentry by its self, it would mean that you would get a few seconds to attack and destroy it while the engie resupplies it

What difference would that make? The sentry is disabled for 3 seconds after you stop controlling it so if the spy backstabs you he can just sap your sentry and be on his way.
