Lionhead Studios, the team behind the Fable and Black & White series’, has officially closed its doors.
“We can confirm that, after much consideration over the six week consultation period with Lionhead employees, we have reached the decision to close Lionhead Studios,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer.
“We have nothing but heart-felt thanks for the team at Lionhead for their significant contributions to Xbox and the games industry.”
First. Bullfrog now lionhead.
I had the best memories with Black & White. This truly saddens me :(

Yeah, Peter molyneux is a good gamer designer but he did some of his best work while programming some of his earliest games.
I think then he understood some of his ideas just were beyond the technology.
I really loved Black and White 2.
I used to Black & white 1 for hours and hours, What makes me sad is that it will be a long time before I see anything like it again.
damn, sucks to hear this. black & white and the movies game were the shit, hate seeing them shut down.
Rip any hope of a The Movies sequel

Or Fable 2 PC.
Or Fable 2 PC.
No, just The Movies.
I loved Fable I and II. They are some of my favorite games.
Damn shame, I was hoping to at least see one more Fable game.
Someone please buy Black & White IP and make a VR Black & White.
It's all I want in life.
It's sad news but the company wasn't what it used to be, they actually died years ago.
Yea, it's sad that company is officially dead, but after Peter Molyneux left company, i can't remember anything new that they've done.
Still, The Movies will be one of my favourite PC game at all time. Really unique and fun.
Wonder where Fable will go in the future, hopefully in the right direction, do they own the ip or xbox?
Not particularly surprising. Fable 2 was competent if ridiculously hand-holdy, Fable 3 was trash, and I haven't heard too many good things about Fable The Journey either.

I don't know how I will be ever be happy again knowing this is actually a genius idea that probably won't happen.

I heard moving your position in PR without your body actually moving really confuses your brain and causes motion sickness, which is why most current VR games are stationary, only mobile in the small space your trackers work in, or they let you instantly teleport to a different place.
So that dream of flying across islands with a screaming villager in your hand is probably another VR generation or two away.
Well that sucks, loved a few of their games, especially The Movies... i've heard that a lot of british studios will probably be going the same way, which is shitty
I never understood why there hasn't been a modern version of Black and White, especially since it isn't available online that I have seen.
Someone finally pulled the plug

Because there's a rights snafu, and Microsoft only wanted the studio so they could churn out fable games
Just imagine B&W now that VR is becoming a thing...

It would make a hell of a good AR game though, pop the map up on a table and begin tossing boulders down upon it
You can already do it with the vive if someone wanted to

Buddy, you play as a god. You don't move around the world, you move the world to your view.
You literally play as a hand, it feels like it was made for VR 11 years in advance.
Wow, black and white would be a perfect VR game...
Too bad about LionHead, I loved Black and White.

Aniki, I played the game and the difference between zooming into the world and zooming the world into you is entirely negligible in this context unless you remodel the entire game to be a map standing in a virtual room like a model train map. Your brain is really easily confused when eyes and ears say you're moving but the other senses disagree.
Black and White series were amazing, rest in peace sweet thing
if you nerds wanna replay Black and White or Black and White 2 on Windows 7 and above I've been maintaining fan patches these past few years: Black and White 1 and Black and White 2 enjoy
both games are unstable as fuck on windows 10 and are a massive pain in the ass to keep running. but these work so if you have an itch to play this is how
It seems like all the studios I grew up with won't survive my adulthood - except for Take-Two Interactive Software (currently Take 2) I suppose who I doubt is going down any time soon.
The industry's a tough place, though; it's hard to stay on top forever.
Hope all the folks working there find good jobs elsewhere.

Fable 2 was my favourite Fable. There, I said it
