But that's because Trump wanted his Muslim ban to be legal, so he had to hide it behind 'just using Obama's list' so it appears more legitimate. Banning Muslims, although not [I]all[/I] Muslims, is still what it accomplishes. You know, the legalese [I]"It's not technically a Muslim ban though"[/I] argument is exactly why the title is [I]"Not-a-Muslim-ban Muslim ban"[/I].
Personally I do agree that the insistence on it being a Muslim ban in practice should be dropped, because I feel it's a red herring. Whether it is a Muslim ban or not, it was still overkill, horribly implemented, and discriminatory toward 7 entire nations' populations because of prejudice.
Trump literally said during his campaign that he wanted to ban Muslims, then changed it to "certain countries" because people pointed out he can't legally get away with banning a religion. Saying it's not a Muslim ban is nitpicking. It's Trump's "I-Can't-Believe-They're-Not-Muslim Ban."

Clearly Trump failed his original goal however since Muslims from countries not in the list of banned countries can still come in. It was a dumb and unnecessary idea though, all it does is create more enemies and caused a bunch of other problems that we really don't need right now.

Personally I'm disappointed and if he doesn't end up banning all Muslims by 2020 I'm voting Democrat.

Whether Trump wanted a Muslim ban or not doesn't make the current travel restrictions a Muslim ban.
Like I said in the other thread, the majority of the world's Muslims don't even live in the banned countries.
That would be like making a Jew ban without banning Israel.

How the hell is it a Muslim ban when the majority of the world's muslims aren't affected? You seem to have totally ignored that point. They also ignored the biggest Muslim countries on the planet.
At most, it's ban of Muslims specifically from the countries specified by the previous administration as places of concern because of the fanatical Islamic groups in those countries.

It isn't a total Muslim ban. It's a as-many-Muslims-as-legally-possible ban. If we're talking about what it [I]actually is[/I], then it's overkill, horribly implemented, discriminatory toward 7 entire nations' populations because of prejudice, probably ineffective, and just so happens to mostly affect Muslims. We're just also considering what it was [I]intended to be[/I], which Trump has made very clear is to ban Muslims.
