Finally, some more directional melee combat with good visual feedback.
I'd like a hardcore mode with none of the combat GUI, though. It's overlays right on top of the sweet fighting
It looks pretty cool, but I wouldn't trust Ubi with a release, I'd wait for a bit.

Or at least have a whole mess of options to turn off specific UI elements or all of them like in Assassin's Creed.
This looks siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick
Reminds me of Mount n Blade........but a really good way of advancing it combat wise......definately gotta try this, i just hope the teams can be bigger than 4v4
Easily the best thing announced so far this year
So it's a little like combining Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior with Dynasty Warriors, what with heroes fighting alongside an AI army. Yeah that's pretty interesting.
Also, hopefully they'll implement a KvVvS gamemode, where it's all three sides fighting against one-another. That said having three sides in one battle would probably mess with the sudden death Domination mechanic.
I'm seeing it as like a 3rd person Chivalry/MnB MOBA.
Worst commentators ever. But game looks pretty sweet.
Kind of reminds me of a mix between Dynasty Warriors, Chivalry and Pirates, Vikings & Knights
Loving the subtle fantasy elements, like how the hero characters are at least 50% bigger than the normal grunts so you can pick out the enemies
Having AI armies alongside you I think is pretty clever too, like Titanfall you get the feeling of a large fight going on but instead of being a small cog you can truly influence the battle
This is the only thing that came out of the Ubi press conference that I think I can look forward to.
Finally a game like this with really good animation, looks great.
it looks SO GOOD
will play like hell
I'm all for more directional combat melee games, I liked the aesthetic and Samurai vs Knights has my approval.
3 Directions seems a bit limited though, as someone that's had plenty of practice with M&B, its hard enough to kill someone adept with blocking with 4 directions to toy with, and M&B can involve physically moving your character in such a way that the end of the weapon misses the finely outlined hitbox narrowly, or facehugging and making very precise use of distance for instance - here there's a target lock system that seems a little bit more clunky and simple
Minion system isn't really original and I have doubts it'll be anything really significant,in other games involving minions they're such a pushover they're basically just background decoration and/or something to take your anger out on. There would need to be a lot more minions, with more variation and more intense fighting to give that sense of immersion.
Hopefully this will evolve into something so deep that it could be considered counter-strike but with swords.
I always wanted a game like that.
Can't wait to flex my superior nipponese steel
[sp]This looks rad enough but I wish the UI was just a little less busy[/sp]
But you still probably can't get your hand cut off and continue fighting with the other.

Looks worth a try tho, gonna give it a little time.

It isn't supposed to be "directional combat" it literally looks like a rock paper scissors type system, where you can block their "down right" attack if you are blocking that same maneuver.
Which is totally fine, gives a lot more depth to sword fighting and duels beyond just slashing to win.
Those animations are buttery smooth.
nice to see some use of the half-swording technique.... interesting game
