A bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy passed in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, with 228 members voting for it and 196 members voting against it.
The bill will now go to the Senate, where it is not expected to pass.
Isn't >20 weeks a good cut off point? Or am I blinded.
You know,
i think the whole abortion, gay rights, etc issues we are having today are just fucking distractions from the bigger problems in our government (Corruption, corporations, bullshit)
No one can focus on the big stuff if the stupidly simple stuff is in the way
also this
The Administration strongly opposes H.R. 1797, which would unacceptably restrict women's health
and reproductive rights and is an assault on a woman's right to choose. Women should be able to
make their own choices about their bodies and their health care, and Government should not inject
itself into decisions best made between a woman and her doctor.
Forty years ago, the Supreme Court affirmed a woman's constitutional right to privacy, including
the right to choose. This bill is a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade and shows contempt for women's
health and rights, the role doctors play in their patients' health care decisions, and the Constitution.
The Administration is continuing its efforts to reduce unintended pregnancies, expand access to
contraception, support maternal and child health, and minimize the need for abortion. At the same
time, the Administration is committed to the protection of women's health and reproductive freedom
and to supporting women and families in the choices they make.
If the President were presented with this legislation, his senior advisors would recommend that he
veto this bill.
yes the topic of abortion is extremely simple
I think you should be able to have an abortion even after the child was born. Some people are unfit to be parents and the whole "just give it up for adoption" argument is bullshit because unless your child is a good looking and/or intelligent child, they will be sitting in a group home until the age of 18 and they'll be kicked out and forced into a world where no one gave a fuck about them.
Isn't >20 weeks a good cut off point? Or am I blinded.
its half way there, it still shouldn't be up to the government to ban that option

NO.
That isn't abortion, that is murder, barring what angry conservatives say.
yes the topic of abortion is extremely simple
right to choose whatever the fuck you want with your body until you popped it out
right to choose whatever the fuck you want with your body until you popped it out
it's not a matter of logic, it's a matter of people having extremely conflicting viewpoints.

That ceases to be abortion then?
Guess I'm okay with murdering newborns then. At the parental figure's discretion.

The "it would be better off dead" argument has to be the most fucking stupid argument for abortion there is, just stawp it
Guess I'm okay with murdering newborns then. At the parental figure's discretion.
that's fucking awful.
Isn't >20 weeks a good cut off point? Or am I blinded.
can't say I know enough about the subject but at 20 weeks a baby could survive and can feel pain so it starts to get a bit foggy on the ethicality side of things, five months also seems like enough time to discover pregnancy and decide on it but of course it's different for everybody
What's even more awful is these Christian Conservatives that say "put it up for adoption" in the debate against abortion.
In the words of George Carlin "you don't see them adopting a whole lot of African crack babies, do you?" I sure as hell don't.
that's a cynical and ignorant way to look at things

I hope you realise that is either infanticide or murder, no matter what the Casey Anthony case taught you.

You daft bastard, you realise you're advocating the murder of a child just because you don't like Christians or adoption.
[editline]18th June 2013[/editline]
And you're quoting a God-damned dead comedian for facts. Why?
I don't like this.
Less than 1% of abortions happen after 20 weeks. How many of them do you think aren't emergencies? Making them go through an extra legal step when it's already an emergency will just make things worse.

no offense but this is the kind of shit my homophobic dad says to justify ignoring serious issues
i think abortion / gay rights are definitely valid and important issues, hardly "distractions"

I'm advocating mercy. I don't want a kid sitting in a goddamn group home for 18 years of their lives. This has nothing to do with Christians or anything like that. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of these people who advocate adoption but do not actually support it in any shape or form.
Also yes, I have no problem admitting to quoting a comedian because there is truth to that statement and that's why people in the audience were laughing. That's what makes it funny.

Those posts are just mind-numbingly dumb. I was expecting better from SH. Shouldn't have got my hopes up.

well he's fucked in life so i mean why bother trying to improve group homes and foster care, just slit his throat tbch

1. George Carlin said controversial things for the sake of being controversial because he thought it was funny, he wasn't a wise philosopher by any stretch and if you base your worldview on a comedian you're probably dumb
2. What the fuck is an "African crack baby" and how the hell are people in most of Africa able to afford crack

wouldn't the better solution be to have foster homes that aren't awful, tbh it sounds needlessly complex to start the mass executions when the far simpler option is also the most viable

"There is a possibility he might have a bad life, might as well kill em." Its a unfathomably stupid argument and there is better ways to solve that problem than infanticide.

when someone quotes carlin or hicks or fucking louis ck in an argument as if comedians are voices of authority on serious moral issues i just have to go take a long walk
[editline]18th June 2013[/editline]
also alex youre fucking ridiculous for advocating infanticide and you should be ashamed of yourself for embarrassing yourself in public like this
Killing someone, even an infant, with a degenerative disease that causes chronic pain and a horrendous quality of life is one thing that's worth debating
Potentially shit parents doesn't fall under the above and can be fixed a lot more easily
In the words of George Carlin "you don't see them adopting a whole lot of African crack babies, do you?" I sure as hell don't.
You should check tu quoque bro.I've known ultra religious families to have 12 kids -half of them adopted- and others who have even adopted kids with down syndrome, so coming with that Carlin bullshit-bullshit is awful.
