Some time ago, one of my younger brothers (he's 21 now) said he wanted to become a DJ, so he decided to drop out of high-school to pursue his dream (pretty stupid move, if you ask me). So what has he been doing during all these 6+ years he's been out of school? He spent ALL day long fooling around with his comp, hooked up to some DJ console, plus some other stuff I don't know what is it for, "making" music. Here's a little sample of what he does... he calls it "Minimal"... I call it crap (being the metalhead hard-ass I am), but to each his own :v: Anyway, he's been pretty busy playing as a local DJ on some pubs, and handing over some of his demos and samples to record labels for a while, until one of them liked his job! In fact they liked him so much, they decided to include not 1, but 2 of his songs in one of their albums that will be later on sold on Beatport. Here's is the link with the album info and tracklist, where you can also listen to his 2 songs. Now he's waiting for a juicy u$s 300 bank transfer to his bank account, and later on I presume he'll be paid even more, as the album and/or his songs are purchased on Beatport and he gets a percentage of the sales... He's super excited about it, almost as he can't believe what's going on right now... and now he's working twice as hard putting out demos and samples. While it's really awesome that your brother gets international recognition and all, I'm still telling him he needs to go back to school and finish his studies, at the very least... he's telling me to "fuck off while I keep getting paid for my music :q:" I'm in the middle of a dilemma here, FP... should I encourage my brother to keep pursuing his dream, or should I insist on telling him he should definitely finish school? I even went as far as telling him that I'd be willing to pay for an Audio Engineering degree for him, if he finishes high-school... he's telling me "ok ok, will do", but I don't think it's working :/ Anyhow, what do you think of my brother's music? EDIT: Here's his Soundcloud page, with a promo mix he came up (1 hour and 24 fucking minutes long?! :wtc:)
It was pretty alright. He should definitely finish school though, it'll help him later in life if his current work ends.
stop hiding hyperlinks seriously took me a while to find all of them
Tell him that he's good, but college classes will make him better.
stop hiding hyperlinks seriously took me a while to find all of them
You can't see the difference in color as you read the OP?
Give your brother a hug for me.
Worst thing I have ever had the displeasure of hearing. Nah I'm kidding. [sp]No but seriously, It's fucking terrible.[/sp]
You can't see the difference in color as you read the OP?
I didn't till he pointed it out.
Get him to finish Highschool then become a better DJ.
You can't see the difference in color as you read the OP?
i sit far away from the monitor, its pretty hard to find different shades of dark close up it's blue but when you lay back its dark
In the sample there was a drop at 1:12, why the fuck was that there? Also around 2:14 those random sounds start to fuck it up. I'd say its "decent".
You need to go back to school bro.
Only a person who dropped out of high school to become a DJ would like it.
It's a minute and 11 of the same beat. And the rest is a warped mess
What god awful music. Tell him not to quit his day job, err, school to persue this line of work because he will be an utter failure. Hey, you should show him this thread!
Bad music, but I wish him luck in the future, He will probably get there.
your last name is mansour
Jesus. I didn't find anything good about any of those tracks. Really un-creative/generic. And even a bit worse than generic. Stay in school and get a real job in my opinion.
It was pretty alright. He should definitely finish school though, it'll help him later in life if his current work ends.
That's precisely what I'm telling him, but to no avail :/ I try to be a good brother and set an example for him, but he's not taking my advices...
Give your brother a hug for me.
Hahahaha will do ;D [editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
stop hiding hyperlinks seriously took me a while to find all of them
Ok maybe next time I'll underline 'em, how 'bout that?
There is a full 4:30 minutes wait between the start and the climax of the music, thats far too long for my taste Other than that it's pretty good
I like techno/trance stuff. It's okay, not great though. He's got a lot of talent hidden away, he just needs to perfect his skills and practice before he starts trying to make it big.
tell him to try dubstep, but stay away from doing what every single other small guy is doing, remixing deadmau5
Glad to see most of you guys share my point of view... I'll insist on telling him I'm offering to pay for an Audio Engineering degree as long as he finishes HS, once and for all... we'll see how that works for him. As for his music, I also consider it pretty "meh", but it's nice to see some of you folks like it... kinda makes me proud of being his brother :unsmith:
tell him to try dubstep, but stay away from doing what every single other small guy is doing, remixing deadmau5
I'll tell him that EDIT: He replied "Hahaha he's absolutely right! Dubstep is a really cool genre, but it's not something I'm looking forward to work on right now"
There was the unnecessary drop that was already said. And he added to rest of the beats too abruptly, like he just dumped them there. And even on musics that aren't supposed to change much (Blood rave aka Blade for example) there needs to be "more" he got the original beat right but messed the rest
It's a minute and 11 of the same beat. And the rest is a warped mess
Thats okay for many songs WITH an actual drop. This song is just too boring.
Tell him to quit this and go work at a McDonalds He might get to manager if he's good at it
lol I told him something quite similar to that once, he was like "Go fuck yourself" :v:
House music? Why did you get us to listen to that? You disgust me.

I'll re-upload the final version within the next few couple days ;)"
House music? Why did you get us to listen to that? You disgust me.
But... but... I thought you would like this... *sobs* :smith:
Not really that good at all.
This is really nice as something in the background while I do other stuff, very chill. or at least the first 10 or so minutes
