He must have fairly good insurance, too, (The kind that costs about 9 grand a year). But yeah, the American Healthcare system is over priced, period, and even if it went to a Universal Healthcare system, all the people who make medication, surgical tools, IVs, beds, machines, doctor's salaries, etc.... they're all used to making that amount of money, and will not lower the prices, and it would bankrupt the country, so what are we to do?
You know those little things you put ketchup in at McDonalds? They're also used in hospitals to bring patients pills. But in a hospital and on your bill, they're called Medication Transportation Systems. And they cost $20. A regular IV? $1.40 to make. $400 on your bill. And the reason they're so expensive like that is because they're allowed to get away with it, because insurance pays for it, not people, so they can.
Actually the problem is that Insurance companies negotiate for lower prices. Those flat costs are just high ball figures that hospitals start with so as to get a better price in the end. Problem is that if you don't have insurance you're stuck with the high ball cost, while the insurance companies themselves barely pay half of that.
Fucking hell, the Giantbomb controversy shouldn't even exist.
I can't really watch more than two minutes of this. I lost my Dad two years ago to colon cancer and he was my best friend and the greatest Dad ever. He was such an incredible man and he did so much for the world that went unnoticed. He worked for Nato during the cold war and did a lot of the programming to work out the cost it would take to go to war with the soviets. That was just one of the amazing things he did. We even built a fucking Tesla Coil when I was 9. I couldn't have asked for a better Dad and it breaks my heart to hear Totalbiscuit have to go through what my dad went through because some of the treatments he will have to go through are an absolute test of will and strength, not just on his part but to all his family and I wish them the absolute best and I really hope that TB gives Cancer fucking hell.

The problem I have is total biscuits that women are basically magical people, just by inclusion it makes things better, when its clearly a questionable statement. Apply this to women's entertainment and you see its just not true, women's entertainment is almost exclusively female lead, women's magazines are filled with pictures of women, and articles by women, if you want to see the most gender segregated stuff around,look at what women actually favor. Also tv...that kind of brings up the point, where are female gamers? They are watching tv. The demographics of tv are mostly female at this point, shows like bones and other middle aged lead female tv shows dominate now, but to just claim that its better or good, is hard to justify, much of it is terrible, or at the very least not aimed at the male demographic or concerned with their interests at all, and thats fine, just as its fine that most games aren't deliberately catering to females, because like it or not, violence is the power we use to interact with most game worlds, and violence is mostly a male thing. The stories told in gaming are limited to what works in this interactive medium, 50 shades of grey isn't better as a game than as a book...
As for him saying that "it sucks" that the guy hired was just a white male? Sexist and racist to be frank, it doesn't suck, it just is. Either he's qualified or he's not. If he's qualified and biscuit says it "sucks" for him to be hired that is bigotry.
Just flip it around, imagine if someone said it "sucked" that we hired a jew...he's qualified...but omg..he's a jew:(

Okay, let's look at this from a very basic, very superficial point of view. Why would diversity be worse? Not using any examples, just the idea. More people from different walks of life partake in media creation, why is that worse?

Way to miss the point, friend-o. It sucks because it's another white guy in the industry as opposed to someone else who could've brought a new air, nothing wrong with that. He himself states that he's the best guy for the job they got, he himself states that it's simply part of the world we live in right now, it's just that it would've been nice if it were a woman or someone from the LGBT community.

Haha, that was pretty awesome.
There really wasn't a controversy - someone said something stupid, then tons of giantbomb community members (and other people from around the internet) started sending death and rape threats to her. Giantbomb editors told those people to shut up and stop associating with the site if they're going to act like that.
Basically it's yet another example of people getting outraged over someone's misplaced offense, with the whole situation culminating in the original stupid person miraculously appearing the least stupid.
