So this week I came home to find that my dad had been attaching a strange plastic container to the roof. So I asked my dad what it was.
Apparently, my dad was working on an artificial bird's nest, because a real one had fallen off under the gutter, and so it seemed simple enough to get a suitable container, and fill it with dry grass and whatnot, for the bird(s) to have a habitat in which they could live for a while.
After that was done, my dad waited for the bird(s) to return. Nothing. A few birds had been left behind, however, and so they needed care, for they were in need of food, water. They were babies, three of them. My dad did his best to feed them but sadly, two of them died.
The last baby, lived but didn't have enough energy to stand up. My father had given it water, and food and it could only move it's leg. It stayed in the same position, on it's back. It seemed like it had been asleep most of the day, but I don't know, I just don't think it could move it's eyes.
Later, it had been fed for the day, and everyone was off to bed. Before I'd go to school, I decided to check up on the little guy. Unfortunately, I discovered that he was dead, not moving a single bit at all, and I had to leave. When I came back from school, my father discovered the bird was dead, too.
He was such a cute little guy <3
tl;dr: My dad made a fake nest for the birds because theirs was destroyed, it wasn't used, he took care of four birds, three died, and the last one died a day later.
I give you hearts. Poor buggers, well done to you for trying though.
I rated you heart because you have one.
Hearts.
I know a couple of persons who would have thrown that birdie to kittens >_>
Its going to die. Common sense, get over it.
I tried to do this when i was around 8-10, guess what happened?? The birds died.
Shit happens.

We should have a raincloud rating.

Shut up you bellend. Anyway, there is no harm in trying.
I saw a dead baby chick on a wall yestarday. He looked so sad...

We could have saved it, though. It just needed enough energy to get on it's feet, and we didn't know what else could've been wrong with it.
Artificial birds nest.
First time I've heard of that.
He would make a good dinner.
It would have died anyways, but nice try trying to save it.
My mother's car has a sunroof, and since it was a nice night she left that and the windows partly open. We have an outside cat, by the way; a big black one that frequently leaves dead bunnies in the garage.
That day, we were going somewhere and I opened the car door. What should I find except a dead bird.
After getting all:

and all that, I took a couple of pictures of it.

I'm not sure the cat got it, because there was (thankfully) no blood.

It was sort of funny, I guess. We sprayed the seat with Lysol after I sat on some newspapers. The bird made for a story, at least.
It's always sad to see these dead animal threads pop up.
I found a baby duckling in my window well once. I heard something chirping, so I go outside and find him trying his best to get out. So, I carefully pick him up and put him in my old hamster cage under some light to keep him warm. Of course with lots of towels and stuff like that. I gave him a very small platter of water. He's a duck so of course he flapped around in it for a while. Then he started to become more and more sluggish until he wasn't moving at all. He wouldn't eat, drink, or move a millimeter. So I carefully lift him up with the towel around him, held him close, and watched as the poor thing took its last breath in my hand.
Poor thing. :smith:
The thing was so goddamn cute, why did it have to die.

I wonder what you would say if you were the one dying.
I remember my friend had found a bird with both its wings broken when we were 8. I told him it couldn't be saved, so we honorably got his father to break it's neck, got some wood, duct taped it all in a clump, put the bird on it, and gave that motherfucker a viking funeral:black101:

You were one tough 8 year old.
I once stepped on a baby bird and felt horrible.
Then I realized that it was out of its nest, so its chances of survival were already next to none. That didn't help too much though.
what ever happened to that cat that dude found?
shit wrong thread

Last year.
Has anyone actually successfully saved a bird like that? I need tips on how, they all just die...
I don't think you gave enough food or water to it, baby birds have to eat like every 30 minutes and need a good size portion of food. But oh well at least you might do a better job next time.

With all these chicks dying, you'd of thought someone could properly raise one to adulthood.
I know, lets get someone to get a baby bird to raise, make a thread about it & keep it updated as time goes on.
Actually thats a bad idea

Thread was made AFTER it's death...
Aww.
Poor thing.
Poor little guy.
I love birds so sad.

I'd love to have a baby duck...
But a live one that lives.
My theory for these birds: trauma. Sheer shock of having no mother, and at such a young age, would have fucked them up real bad. And think of it, having these HUGE towering things 30 times your size poking and prodding you, shoving alien foodstuffs in your face, why would you eat it?
If i were a bird i'd be scared shitless, and yes i probably wouldn't eat at all.
I raised 2 birds that had lost there mother when I was like 12 years old. One died but the other one survived. We let him go. Good times though, and a good experience.
