Apple has this morning confirmed it will release the first version of the iPad with 128GB of memory on February 5.
In a press release, the company said the new version of the fourth generation iPad would include a 9.7-inch retina display, FaceTime, HD camera and iOS 6.1.
i like how they call this ipad a "fourth generation" ipad instead of naming it the ipad 5 to prevent it looking like the ipad has built up its numbers quicker then most of their products
although they aren't hardware changes it's still fucking annoying
When were the iPad 4 and iPad Mini released, November right?
So much for Apple's yearly product upgrade, seems like they're going for quarterly now
What's even the point of buying apple products anymore if it's just going to be outdated two minutes after it was released
What it seems like apple is doing is just releasing the latest technology they can fit into ipads ASAP instead of doing yearly releases with all the features they researched and slammed into ipads all in one.
Marketing wise it's good and bad, Constantly refreshed ipads throughout the year even twice a year can keep the selling of them going as people won't be hesitant at a certain point of the year to wait for the new one. Working at Micro Center Ipads literally sell in dozens a day. For every computer you can count for sure theres two ipads also being sold at that time.
what a stupid thread title, and an equally misleading image. the "new ipad" is simply the ipad 4 with 128GB of storage.

ffs, apple aren't even calling it a new ipad.

Look at the source, it's word for word from there.

Its probably already outdated the moment it hits the shelves.
I do not know why, but I find it stupid when they release practically the same product so quickly and they are expensive too. the 128GB LTE capable ipad will be almost $1000. I would never buy a tablet for that much, I can get a really good laptop for that much.
pick a better source then, because the official press release doesn't call it a "new ipad" and this is clearly a headline written for clicks

Imagine how much that would cost if it was made locally.
Why do they call it new?
the sort of person buying an ipad with 128 GB of storage is probably swole with cash so why not, plus it's probably a smaller production run anyways
the surface pro is $1000 too

about 15 different people are about to make long posts about how the surface pro is basically a laptop and you should get it because
I thought they were releasing a 128gb version of the first iPad. Took me a while.
Wow $1000 you could get a decent desktop for $600!
Wow $1000 you could get a decent desktop for $600!
1. if you're looking for a tablet you aren't looking for a desktop
2. the sort of person looking for a 128 GB iPad isn't exactly short on cash.
The upside to them calling it fourth generation is that they're admitting that the retina new ipad was barely a change that doesn't even warrant a generation
The upside to them calling it fourth generation is that they're admitting that the retina new ipad was barely a change that doesn't even warrant a generation
what? no. the only thing you could possibly draw from this is that apple doesn't consider a storage upgrade a new generation.
What's even the point of buying apple products anymore if it's just going to be outdated two minutes after it was released
How is it outdated? Everything it runs can run on the previous Ipads. Outdated would be if you bought an Xbox and a year later Microsoft released the 360, who's games are incompatible with your console. The 'new Ipad' thing is basically just buying your desktop a bigger monitor. There's still the exact same capabilities, it just has a larger screen.

uh there are hardware changes
not that significant but the original ipad can't run most of the newer stuff, think of it more as getting a computer upgrade, only you're getting a whole new computer (which is also how apple computers handle it mostly)
Didn't they release the 4 without saying anything to hide that the 3 actually performed worse than the 2?
Sounds like they're getting desperate.
Sounds like they're getting desperate.
based on....?
[editline]30th January 2013[/editline]
y'all are reading way too much into this otherwise small release.
Guys guys, its Apple.
Rinse and repeat, and by rinse I mean extend memory for whatever reason you need outlandish ammounts of memory on a mobile device (good for movies I guess) and bigger/smaller and thinner devices with whatever screen they got hardons for at the moment.
Imo, a money sinkhole with or without the need for whatever you want from them.
Seriously, 1000? Wow.
and then a million idiots pissed their money away on another shitty tablet
who even cares anymore
