Nintendo has a 'continuing relationship' with Mojang, but has no announcements for Minecraft on Wii
Coming from a GameSpot interview with Nintendo business development manager Dan Adelman and Nintendo senior manager of marketing for licensing Damon Baker...
DA: "What can we say on that front? [laughs]."
DB: "We're big fans. We have a continuing relationship with Mojang, and respect all the work that they're doing, but no announcements at this time."
Baker went on to say that Nintendo pops up at events like PAX to talk to various devs about this projects, even if they aren't planned for Nintendo platforms. This lead Baker to say...
"We've got our own favorites that we've had conversations with, so I think it's always a work in progress."
Personal Computing is dead thanks to minecraft.
Minecraft on 3DS would be so awesome.

Doesn't Minecraft already have a 3D mode? It would be the perfect fit.
And for Wii U, the gamepad could hold the inventory and a map, maybe.
Touchscreen controls for Crafting would be pretty awesome
Maybe one day mojang will stop being one sided and push to Nintendo consoles
Nintendo has their mitts on the ideal platforms for Minecraft. It's a shame that there's no plans for it (yet).
Maybe they could actually do a proper version of Minecraft on the newer consoles, instead of the bullshit that 360-users got fed with.
Then again, you won't be able to install mods, so it'll always fall miles behind from the real thing.
I kinda wished that there was a minecraft release on wii, imo it was pretty much the perfect console for it.
As for wii u, or 3DS, I'd certainly be interested in a wii u port, not so much a 3DS one, anyone who's played whatever the name of the mineraft clone on DS out there is, they'll know it doesn't work to well with that kinda device.
Minecraft for Wii U, whilst an interesting possibility with potential for drawing in younger kids, probably wouldn't be hot enough IP to be a system seller. Don't get me wrong, Minecraft is popular amongst younger and creative folks, and Nintendo's been reaching towards younger audiences in the past, but with all the versions of Minecraft out in the world it's hardly going to be a killer app that causes most kids to decide that "yep, i'm gonna get a Wii U so I can play Minecraft".
We're still gonna have to wait for the next Metroid and the next big Zelda before we have enough amazing exclusives to make the Wii U sell like hot cakes. And personally, I think that Nintendo should have made a platforming MOBA-style game with the Smash Bros IP; they already have a huge roster of potential heroes/champions and many worlds to play in, and if Nintendo plays their cards right they could have something unique and attractive that sells systems.
Why are they even bothering with Mojang? It's a shit company that can't get anything done and everything else they do is mediocre.
Minecraft isn't even that good anymore. MAYBE it could work. I wouldn't buy it.

No one ever said that having a few incentives alongside a system seller - or a shitton of good incentives - wouldn't help sales at all either. Also we don't need a goddamn Nintendo MOBA.

If a hypothetical 3DS version had CPP support, it'd work just fine.
Would the 3ds be able to even run Minecraft
I could see them porting pocket edition to the 3DS

I disagree, even with the cpp, it's be clunky to use.
If you're talking about having it as directional movement, with the stylus as the way to look around, it'd be clunky.
if you're talking about having it as directional movement, then the a,b,x,y buttons as the way to look around, it'd be clunky.

If you have seen all the Miiverse posts, you would realize there is a high demand for it at the moment.
Whoever controls Minecraft controls the money

"one sided"
They made one game and it's available on iOS, Android, Win, Mac, Xbox360, and soon PS3/4/Vita. How is that one sided?
i hope nintendo doesnt ever do anything with mojang

Please stop posting. You literally ruin every thread you post in because you rile everyone up and no one can discuss the actual topic at hand.
Minecraft on the 3DS would be sooo badass.
Making the portability much easier than carrying a tablet/expensive phone.
Am i the only one who thinks that Minecraft turned into a zombie franchise?
Minecraft on 3DS would be pretty cool
especially with that circle pad pro addon

More games need to use that addon. The only game that I have that uses it is MH3U.

Maybe one day they will make a good game.
Leaked Nintendo memo fragment:
We are very much interested in licensing Minecraft for use on our consoles as it seems to be a fantastic hit with the kids, however we will continue to review this option until we see some rationality behind the inefficiency of your coding.
