The situation between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland

Summary for those who don't know of the situation:
After Britain had given Ireland control of the majority of Ireland they kept the north of Ireland, due to much of the population in the north wanting to remain part of Britain. Most in the Republic wanted the whole of Ireland and basically claimed it was their land as they used to own in 600 years ago and Ireland should be kept together. This lead to a very violent period in Northern Ireland called "The Troubles" where the IRA - Irish Republican Army(paramilitary group) demanded that Ireland be united or they will blow the fuck out of everything. The opposite to the IRA was the UVF - Ulster Volunteer Force (Paramilitary group) and both feuded from the late 60's to even now.
My question to you is should Ireland be re-united? Or should Britain continue to control the North?
Personally, as I am from Northern Ireland I would like things to remain the way they are as we live in relative peace nowadays. Plus myself being a Unionist as I like the British way of like and the National Health Service, taking care of us and the fact that Ireland is in a horrible recession at the moment. Just because my ancestors were foreign around 200 years ago doesn't mean I don't have a right to say that Northern Ireland is my home.

if the people in northern Ireland want to be with Britain then that is their decisions.
I think that if the Northern Irish people want to remain British, then they should remain British. If the pendulum swings the other way, then they should change. Popular sovereignty and all that jazz.
Once Ireland has it's economy sorted out for at least a while, I think each of the counties of N.Ireland should have a vote whether or not it wants to remain part of Britain.
As for myself I love the idea of a united Ireland, but Ireland just seems to be having problems managing it's affairs.
