• Hard Disk suddenly empty
    5 replies, posted
I had this hard drive for over 2 years, had no issues. when I booted up my PC today, the disk was empty (it was almost full at 1,6TB, 1,8TB being full) I have no clue as to what caused this, I tried verifying the partitions, using chkdsk on it etc, no errors found. Yet the disk is still empty for some reason, tried checking if the files were set to invisible (they're not) A while after booting the disk disappears completely (I can't even check its properties anymore) [thumb]http://puu.sh/9otwO/4c4f778443.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://puu.sh/9ot0z/8473c4a94e.png[/thumb] Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
Check the power/data cables to the drive (unplug/replug them.) If that doesn't work, use a data recovery program like Active@ Partition Recovery: http://www.partition-recovery.com/ If that doesn't work, the drive is hosed. If you need the files on the disk because they aren't backed up anywhere, you're looking at hundreds/thousands at a specialized data recovery company.

Did you click the "SuperScan" button on the top?
Did you click the "SuperScan" button on the top?
turns out the drive defaulted for whatever reason, I just reverted to an older date and it work. I appriciate the help though, Thanks :)
Partition data is gone? Nice. Have you done a chkdsk /f on it, or reseat the SATA/Power connectors?>
