So I just fucking woke up to a Magnitude 3.7. I thought I was on god-damn crack, but one of my buddies on FB said they felt it too, then a buddy in CA linked me a site with actually confirmed it. My GF just texted me and asked me what is up. More news coming whenever there is some. EDIT: Turns out the epicenter was in the Gaithersburg area, on Firstfield Road, near the Diamond Square Shopping Center. It's crazy how we can pinpoint the location within 10 minutes... EDIT 2: A quick history lesson. According to the "Maryland Geological Survey" website, "Maryland's strongest confirmed tremor was a 3.1-magnitude event near Hancock, Washington County, in 1978" So yeah. Those saying that "oh it's nothing" and that "it's not a big deal" clearly don't understand. Yes, we understand that a 3.7 is absolutely nothing. But you have to realize that there are never really earthquakes in MD. It just doesn't happen. We don't care about the magnitude as much as that it happened. It's like the moon turning green... it's something we never expect to happen.
Ive never been in an earthquake :frown:

I'm shooken by your story.
This is crazy... I had a dream last week about how there was an earthquake in MD... Everyone was fucking as confused as they are now because it's MD. No earthquakes ever happen here...
3.7 is for babies. 5.0 in an area that never gets Earthquakes (Australia, we never get them) is for winners.
Having an earthquake gets weird, seeing everything around u shaking up a lil bit
3.7 is for babies. 5.0 in an area that never gets Earthquakes (Australia, we never get them) is for winners.
Where'd you get it? I had one centered right in the area that I live.
No, there's no Earthquake, Gabe's taking a vacation there.
Where'd you get it? I had one centered right in the area that I live.
There was a 5.0 near Adeliade not to long ago, and a couple 3.5s in Melbourne (where I live). It's just so rare.
i would want to know how a earthqueake feels, i just dont wanna be in one...
Imagine Gabe Newell just discovered that there is no ham in his sandwich and he starts charging towards you.

"Survived" 4.7... That was nothing.

Fuck I felt something while I was streaming about 40 minutes ago, and I just now spotted this thread. I knew it was an earthquake :argh:
I thought northern America is fairly earthquake prone? At least not as much as the Western side.
Being in the Chicago area, we allegedly have earthquakes every now and again, but I think when we feel it we just blame it on the wind and continue reading by the side of the fireplace with our corncob pipes.
Lately my place has been getting some good quakes at least every other week. I guess from 3-5.5 level?

Intraplate earthquakes aren't as common as interplate earthquakes, but they still happen pretty much all the time. Now if it was magnitude, say, 4 or 5 or greater, then it'd be a big deal.
california representin'
Bay Area reppin'. I always feel like a stupid cunt whenever I say something like that.
I have been in a magnitude 2 earthquake in southern sweden
I've been in an eathquake while playing with GTA:SA. :smug: [sp]I love earthquakes.[/sp]
Why are you guys getting all hyped about something so small? In CA, we get up to 7.5 or something like that. It has a 7. There have been a lot more recently. San Diego representin' Am I cool now? EDIT: Also, congrats if it was your first Earthquake experience.
it's starting Official data of DC quake: http://www.myforecast.com/bin/earthquake.m?city=23032&metric=false
earthquakes aren't that cool i live in an area that has a high EQ risk and the only one that has happened (that could have been felt) was last year, i think it was about 5.5-6.0, and apparently it was pretty cool. i felt nothing whatsoever :/ there's an area in nz (maybe 700ish km away) where there's over a thousand earthquakes a year :- )
I do believe you mean Sandvich.
I do believe no. It's sandwich, that's the way we spelled it first, that's the way it stays.
