• If you had kids that smoke...

If you found out your hypothetical kid was smoking/using drugs, what would you do? Personally, I'd let them smoke if they were 15-16 or older. Under that is pretty young. I'd tell them to keep their grades up or else they can't smoke anymore. No drinking on school days, or smoking in the house. I might burn with them if they were 18 or older. I'd also tell them not to try hard drugs, and if they do, i'd want them to be very careful. If they get caught up weed it's their problem and i'll help them get through it if it's needed. Facepunch's thoughts?
I'd make them wait until 16-17. No alcohol. No opiates/benzos/stimulants. I'd make sure that they knew how to be safe/cautious while doing it. I'd prefer them to smoke in the house/backyard than some random park. No driving around while high/tripping.

But I wouldn't bring up the subjects of drugs until I find out they started smoking.
depends. If he/she was really bad at school, i would punish her and what not. But if they can prove to me that they're responsible, i'll be the coolest dad ever haha
I wouldn't let them smoke on school nights till they proved they had done what they needed for school. wouldn't let them drive etc, at the age of 15/16.
I'd probably not bring it up, or I'd at least tell them not to do it in the house. of course I'd teach them to stay the hell away from stuff like benzos and strong opiates. no smoking or whatever on school days etc. I wouldn't light up with them because that would be weird.
I would let my kids smoke weed whenever, it only ever helped my school performance, so I don't see why it wouldn't, and I'd be ok with them doing anything I did as long as their safe. I wouldn't impart any values on them, I would just want them to do everything safely, and only do it safely. Telling them not to do something means that they'll do only just to piss you off.
I'd make em wait until high school at least but after that it's all fine and dandy as long as he doesn't become as much of a lost cause as I am
I'd make sure they know the difference between marijuana and harder drugs, so they would understand that it's not all the same. Pretty much what Anubis said. I'd also provide glassware if needed, don't want them inhaling plastic or aluminum. Seriously though, they cram it down the kids heads that marijuana will fuck you up, then the kids go out and try it, and realize its not so bad, then they think they've been lied to about heroine and meth as well.
You probably have been lied to about both Heroin and Meth. Yes, they're both terrible drugs. No, they don't ruin your life upon contact.

The only reason MJ is considered a gateway is because its illegal. You get exposed to other illegal drugs, when you could just be buying it at the convenience store.
True. Marijuana isn't a gateway drug though. Just a great PR line I guess.

Those people would be my brothers and it took one 8 years to get out of addiction to it. Yeah its a bad thing

Yeah its a bad thing
I've taken speed a bunch of times, probably 5 or 6 times now, and I'm not addicted. It's the person, not always the drug. Yeah, it's bad, but it's also not that bad. I won't defend meth and say anyone should do it, but I won't say it's the worse thing ever. I'd be more worried about Oxycontin than meth.
But meth use really isn't the end of your life, it's hard to come out of an addiction but as others and I have shown it's possible to turn your life around. Also, not all speedheads are the stereotypical speedheads. There are speedheads who are productive and work multiple jobs with the help of it. I can't really say it's a good thing, but some people rely on it. With that said, never trust users of meth.
I'd make them buy me some good shit for my birthday, father's day, and Christmas...
I would pretend to be really mad and then steal their stash. Then I would bake a brownie mix with the weed, feed it to them and then lol. As long as they were not irresponsible or stupid with it I wouldn't have a problem.
I would tell them to quit it until they're 18
i'll probably have to have kids some day just to make up for the shitty life i've lead. no matter how optimistic i can be about it though i realize i'll probably fail if i set my expectations high, trying for their whole childhood/till college me being important part of their life or a big influence. i don't want to raise kids till i have it all figured out and get the right mindset. the right expectations and mix of passiveness and activeness, not a guardian not a friend. it may be never, it may be soon, one things for sure i'll know when im ready.
< 16 = Nein 16-18 = Ok, but grow your own and don't be a douche asking others to buy it for you. Make sure your grades are decent too. 18 > & passed high school = Have fun kid! 18 > & dropped out = You better make yourself useful to society and help around in the house if you want too live under my roof and continue drugs.
parenthood isn't about imposing shit so they follow your rules, it's about imposing shit on them in such a way where in the long run they turn out with a good head on their shoulders. not static unadaptive and unquestionable rules to follow, that's a shitty way to live. you raise them so they can figure things out for them self, so they can adapt and live a good way completely on their own not because of parental commandments but because of their mindset. like a set of broad and dynamic guidelines for life and the perception and interpretation correct for using those guidelines. there's no guarantee they're gonna follow your law to the dot and eventually when that gap exposes itself it will crumble and disillusionment will follow along with rebellion and opposition towards you. prepare, don't train.
Kids will always rebel against your rule just to rebel against your rule. Let them do what they're going to do. Just make sure they know the consequences, and how to be safe.
If my kids are old enough to pay for their own greens, then they can smoke to their heart's content. I'm not gonna have my kid run up to me asking money for a sack.
I would be alright with it, as long as they don't steal my stash.
I wouldn't mind. If they want to do it, they'll do it.
It's hard to tell them to not do anything else when you let them smoke, but it's the best way to keep them from trying harder drugs. If you don't let them smoke, they'll find other ways to get high.

You know, I am not telling that selling weed to your kids is a good thing but keeping them away from hard drugs might be hard if they've got a wrong education about drugs.

Only if they shared.
But you are saying hard drugs are bad. Which isn't always the case.
All drugs are bad. Don't be mistaken. Some are pretty harmless but every drug is bad, even tylenols.
