This movie is based on an American Comic Book of the same name. This movie is an anthology based around a green orb (Loc-Nar) which is the sum of all evil. The segments in order are: "Soft Landing"; "Grimandi"; "Harry Canyan"; "Den"; "Capain Sternn"; "B-17"; "So Beautiful, So Dangerous"; "Taarna". "Den" is based on Richard Corben's Hero that appeared in Heavy Metal magazine during 1977 (the magazine's first year). It is also available in paperback from Fantagor Press. "So Beautiful, So Dangerous" is based on a serial in Heavy Metal magazine (later a book). "Soft Landing" originally appeared in the September 1979 issue of the comic book "Captain Sternn" was written Berni Wrightson and appeared in the June 1890 edition on the comic. "Grimandi" is the wrap-around story that evolves from "Soft Landing". Written by Mike
That movie looks interesting.
I did play Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.² a few years back, which, as I understand it, was in the same universe or something.
I hate to admit it, but as I child I watched this movie for the animated breasts.
That, and the music is kickass and you don't actually have to watch the movie at all to just sit back and chill.
Heavy Metal is amazing, best watched with friends. The B-17 scene is my favorite.

My friends father also did some artwork for the cover of a couple issues of Heavy Metal magazine, it was really cool to see the originals.

Didn't realize what they were until I saw the movie and learned a bit more about Heavy Metal magazine. It was quite an experience being able to see the original artwork.

Yeah but it was a video game sequel to the sequel of Heavy metal Which the sequel sucked it was completly completely unoriginal.

Same here, I remember that game! Some time later I watched the movie "Heavy Metal 2000", I think there was a trailer of that movie in the game CD, IIRC...

B-17 is the best part hands down.
I also like the Captain Sternn one.
Are you kidding me, it took this long for someone to make a thread about this?
Clearly some people weren't raised properly...
this was a really good movie actually.
Such a strange film, but fuck yeah John Candy.
Also there's a new one coming soon. Gonna have David Fincher, James Cameron, Kevin Eastman (heavy metal + teenage mutant ninja turtles creator), jack black + kung fu panda director, and many others working on it. I'll be interested to see how that turns out.
I watched the censored heavy metal on MTV.
I rented the sequel, heavy metal 2000, which was okay but not superior compared to the first one.
I watched the censored heavy metal on MTV.
that probably cut the run time down enough they could just play it during a commercial break
Fuck yeah Heavy Metal, one of my favorite cult classics. And i was born 9 years after this movie too.
