[t]http://www.cbc.ca/news/interactives/banknotes-zoom/map/map/20front-large.jpg[/t] Canada's new plastic $20 bills go into circulation tomorrow. The polymer bill is set to be issued less than a week before Remembrance Day, and pays tribute to the contributions and sacrifices of Canadian military men and women. The back of the bill features the Canadian National Vimy Memorial. On Tuesday, the new bill will get its official launch at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Hon. Steven Blaney, the minister of veterans affairs, and David Houghton, president of the Vimy Foundation, are expected to attend the ceremony. The $20 bill is the country's most widely used bank note. The Bank of Canada began issuing polymer money a year ago, starting with the $100 bill in November and followed with the $50 note in March. The polymer notes are more secure and durable than earlier bills, according to the bank's website, which says they "are easy to check and hard to counterfeit." New plastic $5 and $10 notes are scheduled to be issued by the end of 2013. P.O.V.: Is Canada's new $20 bill too "pornographic"? A new $20 bill set to be released by the Bank of Canada this November is raising eyebrows after it was announced that focus group participants saw "naked women" and New York's Twin Towers in the design. The high-tech polymer note was unveiled in Ottawa last week after years of cross-country focus groups commissioned by the Bank of Canada. Meant to evoke "the contributions and sacrifices of Canadian men and women in military conflicts throughout our history," the new $20 bill features Canada's National Vimy Memorial, said The Bank. The monument was erected in Vimy, France in 1936 to honour First World War soldiers. Unfortunately, most focus group participants were unable to identify the iconic memorial or even knew of its existence according to a report from obtained by CTV News. "When you quickly glance at it, and if I didn't know any better, it looks like the Twin Towers," said one participant in the report, which was produced by market research firm The Strategic Council in Toronto. "It's too pornographic," said another. "What is the woman on the top holding?" This isn't the first time Canadian currency has evoked controversy. Focus groups for the recently revamped polymer versions of the $100 and $50 bills found the public confused about what, exactly, they were seeing. Many people in the $100 bill focus group mistook a DNA strand for a sex toy, while some saw a skull on crossbones on the new $50.
looks ugly
not the best picture of the Queen
I'm failing to see anything wrong or out of place with the notes. Are people really this retarded?
They had some really crazy focus groups looking at these designs.
I've handled a few of those bills, and I must say they are pretty damn fancy. It's some future shit.
Uggghhh can't we just get rid of the Queen from the goddamn money. Just replace it with PET with a shit-eating grin and be done with it.
look its the queen must be granny porn
Why does all money have to look basically the same I've yet to see anything beat these designs [t]http://dowlingduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/DowlingDuncan_BankNote_1.jpg[/t] [t]http://dowlingduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/DowlingDuncan_BankNote_5.jpg[/t] [t]http://dowlingduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/DowlingDuncan_BankNote_10.jpg[/t] [t]http://dowlingduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/DowlingDuncan_BankNote_20.jpg[/t] [t]http://dowlingduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/DowlingDuncan_BankNote_50.jpg[/t] [t]http://dowlingduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/DowlingDuncan_BankNote_100.jpg[/t] [t]http://dowlingduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Wallet.jpg[/t]

Plastic money is always good money
I'm failing to see anything wrong or out of place with the notes. Are people really this retarded?
People cried "Porn!" and "9/11!" because they somehow thought that the Vimy Memorial (Which was unveiled 30 years before WTC 1&2 were started, and 34-35 years before either of them were finished) resembled the Twin Towers. Also, there's a statue of a woman with exposed breasts on the Memorial. But does that matter? No, because it's a WWI memorial, not a striptease. Anyone who thought half-naked statue = porn needs to give themselves a good look in the mirror.
Another picture: The 50 and 100 dollar bills are already out, and damn they are cool.
The Queen is looking rather reptilian lately
Another picture: The 50 and 100 dollar bills are already out, and damn they are cool.
I don't get why there's that second picture of the Queen. Why is that there? :v: It looks stuck on.
I find it revolting that Canadians could be so ignorant about something like the Vimy Ridge Memorial.
looks ugly
you're just looking at it wrong you need it look at it upside down like they do in australia
How are naked women pornographic, by the way? Nude beaches aren't giant sex festivals.
It isn't that bad,
I don't get why there's that second picture of the Queen. Why is that there? :v: It looks stuck on.
Looks like it's transparent for security
I prefer old money I suppose this is what the retro fifties was trying to warn us of.
I don't get why there's that second picture of the Queen. Why is that there? :v: It looks stuck on.
Canadian bills are full of eye-security features, I guess thats the only way they could stay in theme. I'm okay with these new bills, so long as the $5 keeps the hockey sticks.
I find it revolting that Canadians could be so ignorant about something like the Vimy Ridge Memorial.
Don't blame us Canadians, we are forced to use these plastic money designs if our paper money dies off (which it will within 10 years). Blame the designers who made these, hopefully there will be a new design that's better than it is now or some sort of revision within the next 5 years.
They should redesign the bills to actually have the World Trade Center towers and porn in them. The $100 bill will have lesbians eating each other out while the towers are exploding behind them. It could work.
How are naked women pornographic, by the way? Nude beaches aren't giant sex festivals.
Because the human body is icky and sinful, which is why we all wear blindfolds in the shower or something.
They should redesign the bills to actually have the World Trade Center towers and porn in them. The $100 bill will have lesbians eating each other out while the towers are exploding behind them. It could work.
You should be a graphic designer
Are they redoing the $5 bill as well?
Are they redoing the $5 bill as well?
They are issuing plastic bills for all of them, $5, 10, 20, 50, 100. Not $1000 because no one uses them at all.
Now, are these pliable like paper? Or stiff like some plastic cards
Now, are these pliable like paper? Or stiff like some plastic cards
Pliable, and not credit/debit-card style. [editline]6th November 2012[/editline]
Not $1000 because no one uses them at all.
The Bank of Canada actually discontinued them completely due to money laundering. People can still use them as legal tender and can hold on to them as collectables, but most places likely wouldn't take it as tender anyways due to the risk of counterfeiting.
