This is most likely because Democrats don't know anything about economics.

Americans say Republicans in Congress would do a better job than Democrats in dealing with the U.S. budget, according to a poll released Friday that shows President Barack Obama's party at a disadvantage as lawmakers near another showdown over federal spending.
The poll's findings underscore the challenge facing Obama as he seeks public support for his proposals for tackling a growing U.S. budget deficit — an issue that could play a key role in the president's efforts to win re-election in 2012.
The USA Today/Gallup survey of 1,013 U.S. adults looked at whether Americans expressed more confidence in the ability of Republicans or Democrats in Congress to deal with six major issues facing the country.
The federal budget was the only issue in which respondents clearly preferred one party over the other, with 48 percent favoring Republicans and 36 percent Democrats.

Sorry I forgot that my part of the world doesn't exist.
All the republicans I see are social conservatives. All they seem to be doing is cutting essential things like planned parenthood.
I think the democrats are more business friendly because they're more people friendly.

The problem is they're too people friendly sometimes and forget that people run businesses.

Which is why the Republicans have failed on the economy literally every single time they had office, right?
The Republicans give corporations what they want instead of giving the economy what it needs.
republicans allow the wealth to trickle

In other words, it sucks.
It shouldn't even be called Reaganomics, Kennedy invented it.
Kennedy lowered taxes to give incentive for business to grow in 1962.
Can anyone actually link to some sort of budget plan that one party or the other (preferrably both) have released?
To listen to facepunch tell it, the conservatives would remove taxes for the top 10% and raise taxes for the bottom 90% to around, say, 80%, right after they give full human rights to all corporations and bomb an abortion clinic.
Do we actually know what either sides real plans are?
This is most likely because Democrats don't know anything about economics.
Most likely because you have no idea what your talking about or what the democratic platform is. and I'm going to guess and say that your Republican solely on that post.
To fix the budget: Common sense.

Generally speaking, common sense and politics don't go hand in hand.

Conservative economic policies in both the US and Canada can be summed up like this: Give rich corporations MORE tax breaks and MORE money while regulating them less, hoping that out of the goodness of their hearts (Ha, ha.) they'll use the money to make their products cheaper, and not to outsource their businesses to other countries or give their senior executives massive bonuses.
Meanwhile, the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.
Conservatives gain popular support by lowering taxes, instead drawing their money from social security initiatives and lowering the quality of education and healthcare. Then they do little favours for religious organizations to gain popularity with the religious masses, and intellectuals who point out how destructive their policies are get shunned and sidelined. This inevitably leads to massive debt and deficits, and makes the population of their country idiot sheep who'll believe them when they blame the liberals for the mess they made.

But common sense and problem solving do!

Yes, perhaps, but is their an actual list?
An actual plan by either side for what is going to be done? Or are we just assuming our side will be better?

*plans* are promises by politicians to gain votes, mate. They don't mean a damn. What I'm going by here is the track record of conservative vs liberal policy.
Americans say Republicans in Congress would do a better job than Democrats in dealing with the U.S. budget.
As an American, I would like to say that most Americans are fucking stupid, and should not be allowed to vote.
The last time we had a budget that wasn't insanely horrible was with a DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT. Every recent Republican before and since has just fucked shit up.
Too bad Obama is doing such a terrible job and making everyone hate Democrats.

Republican economic policy serves one purpose and one purpose only: The interests of the rich, from whose success conservative leaders always seem to benefit so greatly. Corruption on the highest level: That's the Republican legacy.
Too bad Obama is doing such a terrible job and making everyone hate Democrats.
He's not doing so great as of late, but he's the best we've got I'm afraid.
Is it coincidental that your alias, Tyrannosaur, sounds similar to tyranny and that you sound like you are pro-tyranny?
Is every post that Tyrannosaur makes bashing Liberals/Democrats and then rates everyone dumb that he doesn't agree with?

As of late the Republicans across the country haven't been doing too stellar of a job themselves. You know, what with the attempts at religion-backed lawmaking and all that.

Didn't Herbert Hoover try trickle down economics?
Didn't Herbert Hoover try trickle down economics?
"Trickle down economics" is, in Republicanese, their way of saying "I'll just help myself get richer, and if it makes you peasants feel better, I'll pretend that you'll benefit from it too."

That's not how it works at all.
You reduce taxes and give them money so that they will EXPAND THEIR BUSINESS. Not "lower their prices" or "use the goodness of their heart"
If you realized that the tax breaks don't apply to people but to the actual corporate entity you would realize this.

Okay, the smartest of the lot expand their businesses to other countries and get richer. Where does this leave the average American citizen, and how does it benefit them?
