I absolutely adore kaptainkristian. Great writing, solid narration, and it's all very well produced.
Great video as always, however I will be taking a few points off because there wasn't anything about her neck snapping fetish. Jokes aside I would like to see more media in general for every character that isn't Batman and Superman, but I would suspect WB/DC order more of them because that's the big ticket sellers. We could have easily had an entire animated film about the magical aspect of the DC universe and John Constantine thrown in there, but some executive didn't think they would make their money back so they threw Batman in there. This is something that serialized comic books have always struggled with, trying to find a balance with doing big books and little ones, while keeping the fans happy and hope to draw in new fans.
I'm glad he's slowed down, makes me think he's only talking about things he really wants to talk to, instead of searching for a new topic every week. Like all his stuff, an awesome video and a decent example of a non opinionated video on the topic of sexism.
Do this by watching Wonder Woman in theaters no matter how bad it could be.
Show support for non-Batman, non-Superman films by seeing Wonder Woman, or show DC that you won't put up with their bullshit by not seeing Wonder Woman. Quite the pickle we've found ourselves in.
Do this by watching Wonder Woman in theaters no matter how bad it could be.
How about instead we encourage well written and put together stories about women, instead of blindly giving money to anything that just has women in them.
I kinda doubt the Wonder Woman film will be bad, mediocre sure but not bad.
Ehhh... this video is pretty inaccurate, and outright wrong at times. Like... from about 1947 to the 70s, Wonder Woman really was just a secretary for the JLA, and her comic strip turned into a schlocky romance between her and Steve. Plus, glosses over a LOT of Wonder Woman's creator, William Marston, fucking hilarious weirdness. Here are just of the crazy shit this dude was doing.: 1. Marston was SUPER into BDSM, and chaining up Wonder Woman was equally inspired by the 'chains' of misogyny as it was the fact that Marston loved seeing girls in chains. 2. Marston was an adamant polygamist and secretly let another woman into his relationship. Despite the fact that neither woman wanted to be in a menage a trois, they eventually became best friends, while both despised Marston. 3. Wonder Woman, by Marston's design, was made to highlight political issues, but also reflected his own personal life. A number of her supervillains are outright real life inserts of people in his life, like his old professors, and people he engaged in threesomes with.
While all that is true, his take on what she represents now is also true. Kane was a shysty sketchy fuck, so Batman should not be considered as a symbol of man refusing to bend to fate and just accept life's inherent unfairness? Nah. That's the entire point of heroes. Being better than the mean, better than average by dint of exceptional work and exceptional gifts, and larger than life by dint of ethics and principles, not wearing a funky costume. The entire point of DC comics is doing p ok right now and Marvel is not is because they went back to heroes being heroes. The reason Marvel movies are doing well and DC movies are not is p much the same line of reasoning.
and people he engaged in threesomes with.
The classic source for good villains.
