Power and Associates ranked AT&T the worst of the four major U.S. wireless carriers as part of the 2011 Wireless Network Quality Performance Study. This study looks at overall network performance for all four major wireless carriers along with the top regional carriers. There were six regions, and AT&T was either last or tied at the bottom in five of these regions. It is no surprise that Verizon Wireless was at the top for each region. Upon the results, AT&T made a statement to BGR via email. Hit the break to see it. Over the past year, third party drive tests have shown consistently strong call retainability for AT&T. Nationally, we are within two calls out of a thousand behind the only higher score, and we are focused on continued improvement to deliver the industry’s best call retainability for our customers. AT&T is constantly working to deliver the nation’s most advanced wireless experience, and as a result our customers have access to the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network, with the ability to talk and surf the Web at the same time and access to the broadest international coverage of any U.S. provider. We’re going to incredible lengths — and investing billions of dollars — to make our customers’ experience even better. And further improving the customer experience is the motivation behind our proposed acquisition of T-Mobile USA. Would love to hear from AT&T users. How are you feeling about this? I am on Verizon so I am feeling pretty good.
I agree with this ruling.
Verizon master race reporting in
Verizon sucks too, they have shit tons of bloatware on their phones, and they charge you extra for things like wifi tethering. T-Mobile FTW.
datacaps [editline]30th August 2011[/editline] I want Sprint, but I'm stuck with AT&T.
Sprint is fine, when it works.
Don't talk shit about AT&T, or they'll hike our rates another $5 or $10 a month.
Pretty sure all cell phone companies suck. It's just a matter of who sucks the least. $30 a month for data? Bullshit, it probably costs them pennies for as much data as I use, and then they have the audacity to cap me. Fuck em all.
Didn't we all know this? [editline]1[/editline] Also fun fact, my dad's friend was responsible for a cellular blackout in DC, causing Dick Cheney to not be able to use his blackberry. He got a personal complaint.
datacaps [editline]30th August 2011[/editline] I want Sprint, but I'm stuck with AT&T.
I love Sprint when I remember I have unlimited data. Then I lose reception in my living room.

What is this, 1995 AOL service? Come on. Vonage has free international calling for fuck's sake.
I have AT&T...
I take my AT&T phone across states and in the desert and never experience any issues, not to mention their warranty support for normal phones(AKA not iPhones) is fantastic. They pretty much send you replacement phone on command. Before every upgrade I always warranty my old phone so I can put away a like new device. I've been grandfathered into the Unlimited Data and now I have Unlimited Voice/Text with their new plan. That probably changes things.

They all use Asurion for the warranty/insurance.
Fuck it all I use Virgin Mobile and only pay $25/month for unlimited data/text with 300 minutes I never use. NO contract mind you. Plus you can get this for $300

AT&T wanted $750 as a security deposit from me, and my credit isn't that bad.

I live and work in a medium-sized college town and had absolutely no cell or data service in sight of the Sprint tower. Since Virgin rents their coverage from Sprint, that's pretty unacceptable. I had to cough up another $15 a month for Verizon, but at least the damn thing works.
Virgin rents their coverage from Sprint
Ah, fuck that then.
Vodafone anyone? No?
Vodafone anyone? No?
T-Mobile's better in Europe.
at&t keeps messaging me that my payments are late like a week after I make them (on time) not to mention that soon theyre going to choke data speeds for customers who use a lot of data (like me) fuck you I'm paying for unlimited data for a reason
Do they do a credit check and charge you huge amounts of money if your credit sucks? AT&T wanted $750 as a security deposit from me, and my credit isn't that bad.
Nope

I use MetroPCS. It's alright enough for me.
at&t sucks for a whole mess of reasons, my contract is off in October and I'm switching to android/verizon or something
at&t sucks for a whole mess of reasons, my contract is off in October and I'm switching to android/verizon or something
Not Verizon, God no. Use T-Mobile. They're getting the Samsung Hercules (Galaxy S II) on October 26th. 42mbit data speeds!!!
T-Mobile does the same, you get unlimited data, but over 5 gigs or 10 gigs or whatever the plan you're on says, they throttle you.
from what I read theyre going to choke out for something like the top percentage which was over 2 gigs of usage 2 gigs is nothing and I hope that particular speculation is wrong
from what I read theyre going to choke out for something like the top percentage which was over 2 gigs of usage 2 gigs is nothing and I hope that particular speculation is wrong
Yeah I use like 3 gigs a month. They need to realize people use Pandora and other streaming media a lot. If their infrastructure can't handle that much data, they need to fix the problem, not limit people's high speed usage.
I thought AT&T was taking over T-Mobile. Did they pull out at the last second or what?
I thought AT&T was taking over T-Mobile. Did they pull out at the last second or what?
Pull out at the last second...that made me laugh... But I'm not sure what happened with that, it never happened though.
Pull out at the last second...that made me laugh... But I'm not sure what happened with that, it never happened though.
There Under pending investigation, like the anti trust people or something will let it go through. or not.
